Yeah, that 180 days thing sucks for sellers. Man, **** eBay/Paypal.

Actually it can work to a seller's advantage. It gives more time for the item to arrive before a buyer would file item not received. If you ship with tracking, it doesn't matter how long you give a buyer to file. You can't make a claim against something that's already proven to be received.

Not as described on the other hand… Well that one should be tied to the delivery date. Let's say confirmed delivery date plus 30 days.

WTF use eBays global shipping program. The sold Item gets to the buyer within 10 days. I ship the item to Kentucky and Im out of the picture.

A 6 or 7 week delivery to Brazil from the US for starters.

Sounds like a regional policy would be the way to go given that 2 weeks regular mail from almost any global point A to point B is the norm though.

That'd be a much better solution. As it is I leave my funds in my paypal account until the 45 days has passed.

That's obviously the problem because, as someone pointed out before, you're just giving folks more time to mess around with something, cause damage or have second thoughts, and get a refund. I insure just about everything that I ship worth more than $100 or so, so the delivery date issue isn't a concern for me.

this could screw up buyers too, someone could sell a bunch of stuff, take the money and disappear. (It has been done already with the 45 day limit), Imagine what a shady seller can do with 180 days...

Not very likely to happen if you buy something from someone with lots of good feedback . This policy is obviously just another screw job for the sellers . Like mentioned before , **** eBay and paypal.

well it has happened even with the short 45 day limit. I'm just saying it already happens as it is, I cannot imagine the field day some of these guys will have with 180 days to do stuff

Ok I just got the email. Looks like paypal ebay is really putting the screws on sellers. It is generally known paypal always sides with buyers in not as described claim but now they made it official, also they won't return the 3-4% fees now even if you issue full refund. Basically sellers have zero protection and is expected to have better return policy than amazon - 6 months return no question asked and lose 3-4 %. Nuts

If a buyer files a Significantly Not as Described (SNAD) Claim for an item they purchased from you, you will generally be required to accept the item back and refund the buyer the full purchase price plus original shipping costs. You will not receive a refund of your PayPal fees. Further, if you lose a SNAD Claim because we, in our sole discretion, reasonably believe the item you sold is counterfeit, you will be required to provide a full refund to the buyer and you will not receive the item back (it will be destroyed). PayPal Seller protection will not cover your liability.

I hope they significantly enhance the scrutiny for SNAD. This type of complaint is geared toward preventing seller fraud, such as selling counterfeit items, fake designer products for example. Or deceptive substitutions, such as selling a Hot Toys or Sideshow piece and sending a Hasbro to the buyer.

They probably think ""where are our sellers going to go? Amazon? :rotfl"" ....:monkey4

Exactly they don't give two ****s about sellers everything is geared unfairly towards the buyers.

As long as they keep buyer happy seller has no choice but to sell there. And the strategy works great, so they keep adding more and more screws.

This was in an email to Paypal customers about policy changes.

I see the 180 thing being great for those buying pre-orders from eBay sellers, despite the "must be available in 30 days" rule.

Kind of enables those sellers who insist on taking a full payment up front for a preorder though doesn't it?

I've posted a bunch of times on the SF about how eBay wants to be a store and not an auction site. Well not even stores have this sort of crazy return policy. They are trying to push out the small sellers. And it will work. As the change in terms are asking to be misused by buyers. Which no small seller will want to put up with. An eBay alternative needs to be created soon.

So is this an eBay-specific rule or a general PayPal rule? I use PayPal to process all payments for my online business which has nothing to do with eBay and have been doing so since 2006. There have thankfully only bee a very small number of scammers.

Looks like any paypal payment unfortunately. This is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. This will hurt 99% and help 1% of people affected by it. It is already a scammer paradise, this is just beyond words.

What's this BS with anonymity on ebay?

It used to be that you could see other members handle names and identities, even if you weren't a seller hosting the auction. Then they changed it up in like 2008, 2009 where the identities were replaced with the scrambled asterisks. Ok fine. I can see the point of that just in case competitive bidders harassed other members.

Now? Not only are the auctions all anonymous, but feedback is too! All the feedback that is left are all scrambled handle names. You can't even view the item and instead of the listing being a specific date, they change it to "1 month ago". Now it really makes it hard to weed out shillers or follow suspicious buyers. The damn place is constantly changing for the worse.
