So still intrigued and after an hour break, I went back and bid $5.00 more. Again, I was the high bidder. A minute went by and I got out bid AGAIN!!! The time it took to outbid me was almost a minute to the "T" EVERY SINGLE TIME, which made me think it was a machine generated bid OR it was someone that 1.) had a "high bidder" complex and just wanted to know they were going to be the high bidder no matter what or 2.) it was someone "shill bidding."

It almost sounds like a program for shilling. There is no guarantee that someone will outbid you, so they make sure you bid higher.

I always thought the $1 increment bidders were just chihuahuas who couldn't grasp the concept of a maximum bid. This actually makes more sense, particularly since the ones I lose to them always seem to come with second chance offers (not always, but the majority of the time).

I don't see the point in bidding several $1 bids. Bid your max, you either outbid the other person or you don't.

^^^This. I use this site:
https://www.justsnipe.com/

I only enter the price I'm personally willing to pay. IMO this isn't cheating/being unfair to other people. Its just paying what you feel is the price without having to sit in front of the computer to do it. I'll enter the $$ on the auction and just cross my fingers until the auction is over.
I use JustSnipe too. And I don't think I've ever lost!

I'm not near any computers when I'm working so I can just set it and not worry about it.

Plus they offer 5 free snipes a week. :D

Hate to admit it but this is true.
If you bid your true max bid, you cant worry about sniping.

The problem with this logic is (with almost anything i bid on) if i dont win one auction there are at least 2 or 3 of the same item with lower bids. So its a matter of 'betting' you can get it cheaper. It makes it hard to set your MAX if different sellers have the same item ending at different times. You need to ensure you dont win ALL of the auctions , and try to balance the price you can theoretically win at.

Snipers suck, but ive seen them get screwed overbidding as well.
Its just tough NOT thinking you will win an item you have been winning for several days on , just to have some creep 'bump' your max bid, even though you may have been willing to go higher...

honestly that's just too much for me to read right now after 2 bottles of wine. all i know is that I snipe and i win. I dont need no stupid ass programs to do work for me.

:lol Fair enough. But I agree, I don't use programs either.

^^^ So you see my point! :rock That's exactly what it was like, a program for "shill bidding." I'm glad I didn't want the piece bad enough and these "red flags" came up when they did.

i bet it was a seller of someone seller knows bidding against you. the seller ended it early seeing you weren't bidding anymore.

Free you say... I don't think I ever bid on more than 5 items in a week :lol

I snipe. oh well.

I don't understand the idiots who bid with 6 days in the auction left. I am convinced that's mostly shill bidding or outright idiots.

I appreciate it when I'm the seller... its nice to know you $100 item will sell for more than $20 more than 3 seconds before the end of the auction.

But you really just have to have faith that you won't loose your shirt :lol

there nothing wrong with sniping that the only way l bid.its the only way really to get the item unless like 5 minutes before closing you put your max bid others will just out bid you,so if you want an item snipe what your willing to pay in the last 10 seconds and screw the other people.there should be nothing wrong with it,l mean what do you think an auction is people fighting over a product, and sniping is a good way to get the item you want.tho somtimes l snipe a bid in the last 10 seconds and l was still out bid and you dont have enough time to put another bid in but im fine with that because l bid what im comfortable paying.

I leave what I want till the 5 second mark then 'Bam'. It's the only way to use Ebay and I get loads of gratification knowing it annoys the tits off the person who didn't get it.

I look at it as they are trying to mark their territory. :lol
