I sent a PM regarding a mysterious green bomb that came with my figure. I just noticed that it's the same as the ones that are on this one:





Never really noticed that this figure had a back-pack. Very cool.


Wierd that mine has the bomb, and nothing else to go with it. Did I acidently throw something away with the packing peanuts or did the bomb get put in the box by mistake?

No worries, the 40mm grenade launcher shell, just fell in
by accident.

And as far as the trigger hands go, no one got them except the
last figure. Because, I didn't have any until recently.

It was never planned, because the shotgun, knife, axe can
all be held by the sword grip and the open hand can also
be used on the bow grip.

But the picture looks great in your PM.

Now I'm the only one that doesn't have one.

Going to have to wait a few months a then make myself
a Van Zan of my very own.

Just wanted to say again that I love this figure. That ghosting in the sculpt really shines through. It came out great. I got it today, added a touch more weathering to his head and took some quick shots. Posting a few. I will take some really nice ones with good lighhting once I get my new camera. Again, thanks for such an awesome Van Zan. Look forward to the next one.

Made a few adjustments to the prototype vest to make it more like the final vests. Still gonna futz with it a little more, but here he is so far:

Really lovin' this figure.

A great outfit, great sculpt, and simply stunning paint-job. The skin tones are just mind-boggleing!

With that set up you have, It looks like an official ROF figure as if Hot Toys made it...and is displaying it at a
toy convention. Just stunning my friend. Makes me want to go watch the movie again.

If you look at his right foot you can see that a packing peanut had been stuck to it, so there is some bits of green foam still on there. Other than just scratching away on it, do you have any suggestions for how to get it off?

Hmmm, must have been tacky from the weathering.
I use a matte clear coat and rub some sand on it
as part of the weathering.

Should be able to rub it off without messing anything up.

Or if it's giving you lots of trouble, you can use a little paint thinner on
the end of a q-tip, that might break the bond of the ghost poop(packing peanuts) from the clear coat that's holding it on.

Let me know how it goes.

Update pics with better lighting, some with flash and some without..I made some adjustments to the vest to bulk him up and arrange his shoulders and arms better. Added a stogie . I think he looks even better now, some angles are uncanny with the likeness. Hope you all like.

Looks awesome. I see you added some more blood(maybe that's just a reflection) and trimmed
back the arm holes for more movement.

I also was working on a stogie version..
I carved his mouth open enough to take a HT cigar.
Really was a lot easier than I thought.
Now just have to get a few more things so I can make my own.

back the arm holes for more movement.

Did you notice I did that as well? I took off the vest (against your recommendation ) and cut tons of the sleeve and glue out.

Now the shoulders have lots of movement and the arms can hang naturally.

It also fixed my concerns about it being too binding across the chest. It's really all this figure needed to be perfect. Well that and stuffing the upper part of the vest with cotton. (Something that mystolle and I thought of independently.) Once I get the wrist band, I'll take him down off the shelf and add a little more cotton, do a final futzing, and take a pile of pictures!

The skull is from the Hot Toys Guardian Predator, it just came to me yesterday and took some quick pics to see how it looked. I think it can pass for a dragon skull. I think it looks great with Van Zan, will probably keep him in that pose with it. Just need to incorporate the crossbow somehow.

The skull is from the Hot Toys Guardian Predator, it just came to me yesterday and took some quick pics to see how it looked. I think it can pass for a dragon skull. I think it looks great with Van Zan, will probably keep him in that pose with it. Just need to incorporate the crossbow somehow.

Skull does look good. Maybe you can add some
pleather skin and blood to the skull in patches. So
it looks like Van Zan just chopped the hell out of it..

Here's a few more pics:

As you can see, I received my wrist band. I love that the elbows are the only exposed joints now.

I think I may have actually got a little carried away with how much cotton I stuffed in the vest. Will have to take some out me-thinks.

While I was futzing with the vest I accidentally lost my grip on the figure and his ear collided with the edge of my desk and chipped a bit of paint off.

Here it is without the arrow:

It's not really noticeable in-hand, but still bugs me. Anyone have any thoughts on how to touch it up?
