Re: "Eden isn't burning, it's burnt" Custom Van Zan Figure final

I think I may have actually got a little carried away with how much cotton I stuffed in the vest. Will have to take some out me-thinks.

While I was futzing with the vest I accidentally lost my grip on the figure and his ear collided with the edge of my desk and chipped a bit of paint off. :(

Here it is without the arrow:

It's not really noticeable in-hand, but still bugs me. Anyone have any thoughts on how to touch it up?

To fix the chipped paint spot. Take a small brush 000005 or around
there. Dip it in some paint thinner. Softly try blending the surrounding
paint into the chip area. Should work okay, just don't brush to hard
or you'll take to much paint off the other area(s).

Also, I think the cotton stuffing looks fine..:)

Due to the high number of people now wanting
Van Zan figures for themselves and asking me if
I was going to make another figure, I decided to put one last thing together.

I am not making another figure, because it was a year in
the making and it's not fair to the people who bought one.

But based off the requests, I did however put a small Van Zan starter kit together.
I just listed on my ebay store. I will add a sales thread
in a few minutes. But here's a picture.

As you can see it has almost everything you need to
make a figure on your own. Just need a body, get the head
painted and do the tatts yourself.

Here's what you get.

1) One custom 1/6 unpainted Van Zan head with removable cigar(fits HT long neck).

2) One custom leather vest with flag patch and weathering.

3) One weathered military neck shemagh.

4) One customized military pant with belt & weathering.

5) One customized HT hand set with pegs.

4 hands: left gloved grip hand, right grip hand, right Dragon tooth hand & right open hand(not pictured).

6) One customized shotgun with custom leather holster.

7) One custom made real metal Gurkha knife with custom leather sheath & weathering.

8) One custom made real metal Van Zan Axe 2.0(even more film accurate) with leather wrap & weathering.

9) One set of Arm tattoo stencils (not pictured) made to fit HT TT arms.

So for all you Van Zan fans that need their fix, here's your final
chance. There is only one of these sets and there will be no others.

Well, as you know, as I continue to work on the same
items over and over again, I tend to get more and more
detail oriented. It's hard to find a perfect picture of the
axe to go by, but I got a great shot of the pick side of it and
so I made the correction on this latest one.

I also made a brand new custom shotgun holster from
scratch. Much more film accurate. Though I don't like
how the real holster opens wide almost 90% on the front edge.
But I made it that way just to be more accurate.
I just had to add a standard clasp on front to hold
the shotgun in correctly. I also added a stretch
band accross the top of the shotgun. In the film
he has a velcro one.

I'm proud of how the knife turned out as well.
It's hard to see in the picture, but that thing is evil good...:lol

Has slight rust and dried blood with the weathering, So you know it gets used...:yess:

Got a request to rework one of the vests of my Van Zan
figures and I think it turned out really well.

I added a more in scale accurate flag patch.

I did some sewing of several leather parts to make some new
and more film accurate pockets on the vest.

Then I colored the pockets and vest so they blended together
a little more, then weathered the whole thing.

Here some reference pictures and then pictures of
the vest. What do you think?

Very nice detail work. He's beat up, weathered and
the vien work is exceptional.

Here's some improvements to Maglors Van Zan to
make him like the Van Zan 2.0 I'm working on.

New real leather boots, new 2.0 axe mods, new outfit improvements(pockets, color) What do you think?

I've even taken the pockets a step further and used additional leather parts to give more detail.

And finally, I found some natural light in the kitchen for some better pictures....LOL
This house has all these yellow energy saver bulbs and it sucks for pictures... :D

I love how the axe turned out. Pretty dang close to film accurate now.

These boots are 1000 times better than the original. I'm almost embarassed I used the old rubber ones.

I thinks the changes really helped.
Really looks even more film accurate now, don't you think Mag??

Re: "Eden isn't burning, it's burnt" Custom Van Zan Figure final

The boots are incredible, and I love the ax improvements, but I have mixed feelings about the pockets. I would appreciate the input of anyone lurking.

And I don't know what I'm going to do about the zipper. No tab = can't hang the ear-piece thingy. And having the zipper teeth not line up is a big distraction...

I did the same to my zipper when I started making them.
I ended up just putting a longer black thread on it and hung it around his neck
and it looked fine. So something to consider.

Or you could answer my PM on the other idea(s) I brought up.

Is there anyone else out there that has an opinion on Mags figure here on what
you like and don't like. Mag is looking for some outside input.

So chime in if you can. :wave :wave :wave

Thanks.

Re: "Eden isn't burning, it's burnt" Custom Van Zan Figure final

Just got the pictures on the lastest paint app on Van Zan.

Most know who Nathan is(sideshow, aka:Silent Surfer).

Looks pretty damn good.

Thanks Nathan for an awesome job!!

Nathan went above and beyond. Even adding other viens other

than the ones that show up in the casting and kept him true to

the character with the grime and dirt.

Take a look and let me know what you think.
Figure pictures should be added next week sometime.
