This is a game I plan to start playing again soon. I've come here to let people talk about characters, cool items and hidden locations.

If there is NO interest here, MODS close the thread.....:D

not played oblivion in awhile but there were tons of cool mods, course getting all the gameplay changing mods to work together took jumping through hoops, but they were awsome. course my game liked to crash constantly with 80 some mods.

but some good stand alone mods i can recall were kuminko manor (or something like that) awsome house mod with a ton of cool stuff.

hades armor i think was my other favorite killer reskin of the oblivion plate armor.

2 of my favorites anyway, names might be off tho i dont think i had oblivion installed in 2 years.

It's been a while since I played Oblivion but I can probably remember some things if anyone has any questions. I poured tons of hours into the game, it was great.

LOVE Oblivion but it has been probably 3 year since I have played it. I was much more into Morrowind and recently went through that game again and right now I am onto Fallout 3 hardcore.

I was never into magic characters, mainly fighting and thief/assassin type characters. I also stayed away from the main storyline for a while and just did side stuff.

One recommendation would be to not use the fast travel, makes the game less fun in my opinion.

Ironically I just started playing this again about a week ago. I got all the achievements for the game a couple years ago and now I am getting through the Shivering Isles expansion pack. I forgot how cool this game is. Better than Fallout 3 in my opinion, but then again I like the fantasy type themes more than the sci fi.

They both have pros and cons. Oblivion had the better store and obviously visually a better environment because it wasn't so bland as Fallout 3 but Fallout 3 has Vats which is just AMAZING.

fallout is WAY too hard at first, i never finished it, was a struggle just to make my character even remotely not die every 2 minutes.

This is true, it was hard in the beginning, especially when you randomly ran into Super Mutants. I found that uses frag grenades in the beginning against them did wonders.

I just got this last Christmas and popped it in the PS3 for a couple of hours. I walked through some dungeon path and followed a few people around. I couldn't really get that into it, maybe I will give it another go sometime soon. Both my brothers raved about it which is why I had it on my list.

i played this game religiously for months until my low end graphics card couldn't handle it anymore. great game. especially all the mods that people made. i had dozens of em. if i ever get a better computer i'll probably start it up again. i like the freedom you have in the game. i don't think i ever did the main quest. i was having so much fun playing the smaller quests and advancing through guilds. the thieves guild is one of the best.

if you can find the "lost spires" mod i highly recommend it. it is huge. it's like an expansion pack. it's a whole new storyline and related quests.

I got the Collector's Edition on 360 when it came out, I don't really play any games on my PC. I wouldn't be able to handle most of them anyway. :lol

I absolutely love this game. I own the Game Of The Year edition with Shivering Isles and Knights Of The Nine for the 360.

There's so much to do in this game. I haven't even seen all the dungeons or done all the sidequests and I have definitely played the game for 100+ hours.

I played mostly with stealthy characters, sneaking through dungeons, sniping bandits, marauders and creatures with bow and arrow.

I'm planning on starting playing with a character with more magic skills. I haven't tried that out yet.

Oh and talking about cool items...

A bit to the west from Anvil is a small island. Go there and swim from the island a little bit more to the southwest, to the place where you can see about 3 underwater rocks drawn on your local area map in the game. Dive in a straight line underwater and you will find a glass helmet called Fin Gleam. The glass makes it shiny so it won't be too hard to find. Fin Gleam will give you constant Night-Eye and Detect life when equipped, so this is great for non-magic characters who like to sneak about in dark dungeons.

This game rules on the PC! I purposefully left it alone for a year or 2 to wait for all the awesome mods to come out (did the same with Fallout 3... might start playing in November... 1 year after release!). If you can get a bunch of mods to work together, the game changes drastically. Although if my computer broke down tomorrow I'd have no idea how to get all the mods working together again!

Must have mods imo:

Deadly Reflex - new melee moves, decapitation and horse combat!!!

Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul - totally reworks and rebalances the game for the better imo... not loved by all tho.

Supreme Magicka - makes playing a mage a whole lot more fun!

I tried this out back when I was playing it on PC. I like it but I don't like it.

I like it for the fact that it makes it more like Morrowind which I think is a better game than Oblivion because now enemies don't level with you, what I HATED in Oblivion. It took a lot of the fun and mystery out of stumbling across a group of badies that were impossible to kill now that you knew you had to come back to later.

I think play Oblivion through without this mod then on the second replay use this mod.

I liked that in Fallout 3 at least they balanced out a bit more that the bad guys had a range of levels close to yours but weren't exact. It was also cool that once you got to an area there levels were capped around yours so if you left and came back when you were at a higher level you could just own them.

I started playing this game again a couple of days ago!

I finished the Fighters-Guild quests and now I'm just exploring the world a bit before joining another guild. Exploring and looting dungeons is great! :rock

Here's a nice site with lots of info on the Elder Scrolls series:
