Just started playing this again a couple of days ago, it was an "ok" game my first play through a few years ago..never beat main story line with all the guilds (i just got bored of it). This time im having a lot more fun.

Fallout is waaaayyyyyyy better imo.

Fallout is great too, but I enjoy the Medieval/Fantasy setting more than the Nuclear Holocaust.
While the Capitol Wasteland looks great and gives an awesome and strange feeling of serenity, peacefulness and loneliness, I like Tamriel more because of the colorful nature, woods, forts and ruins.

Also the fact that you can choose more races than just humans is a nice addition.

Another fun tip for Oblivion, if you want an amazing view (one of my favorites at least), go to the little village Aleswell which is located North of the Imperial City where a small path (shown on the map) leads south.

If you go there on a clear, sunny day, it will give you an awesome view of the Imperial City :)

I felt like snapping this game last night. I got up to the last Theives Guild quest where you have to steal an elder scroll and ended up leaving the gaurds quaters without the scroll by mistake. Turns out if you do this , theres no way you can then finish the quest ever since you can't get back into the gaurds quaters !. I spoke to a monk up there then they all started chasing me and scared me out :lol , I should have never left !. :monkey2:rotfl
I was only doing it for the last achievment I needed on 360 other than the mages guild , doubt I'll bother now. :lol

fallout is WAY too hard at first, i never finished it, was a struggle just to make my character even remotely not die every 2 minutes.

Realy?? I didnt find it that hard...but i was playing it on Normal dificulty.

Just started MorrowWind:Elderscrolls 3
Coming from Obliv first it takes some getting use too.
I keep hearing how great it is....we'll see.

You are a n00b if you think Oblivion is better than Morrowind.

:moon
I'll tell you right off the bat, navigating the GUI to access spells/weapons etc and using the journal is a huge pain in the a$$.
The designers learned that lesson and streamlined it in Obliv. This is on the 360 playing the GotY edition,so I cant use mods.
The story might be better in MW but the graphics in Obliv are :drool.

Yes I definitely agree there, Oblivion did update a lot of things with the GUI and of course the graphics are much better. I think the story line in Morrowind trumps Oblivion and there are much more things to do in Morrowind then Oblivion.

I also like the atmosphere of Morrowind better than Oblivion. It is much darker and more mysterious and creepy. Also there are a ^^^^ ton of things in Morrowind you have to discover on your own and would never be told otherwise, where I think Oblivion handed more things out to you.

I think we got a good idea of what many parts of Morrowind and creatures wouldve looked like on the 360 when the Shivering Isles was released for Obliv.
The sky alone was mesmerizing.
The shear amount of items in MW is cool (clothes/weapons) but again last gen graphics really limit the sense of uniqueness with the individual items.
Obliv also got it right with prerecording all character voices. In MW youve got to read everything...ugh..ponderous man..ponderous.

A bit to the west from Anvil is a small island. Go there and swim from the island a little bit more to the southwest, to the place where you can see about 3 underwater rocks drawn on your local area map in the game. Dive in a straight line underwater and you will find a glass helmet called Fin Gleam. The glass makes it shiny so it won't be too hard to find. Fin Gleam will give you constant Night-Eye and Detect life when equipped, so this is great for non-magic characters who like to sneak about in dark dungeons.

You forgot the most important part - Fin Gleam also gives you constant water-breathing. As soon as you find it, go to your inventory screen and equip it so you don't drown in the swim back up to the surface.

I had a Amulet of Waterbreathing already equipped when I dove up Fin Gleam, so that's why I forgot to mention it...

But you're right, it also gives you water-breathing!

The one thing that frustrated me with Oblivion was I could not figure out how much xp i needed to level up. I would just sleep and next thing I know I was at the next level.

Well there is the bar in your Stats menu underneath your main skills that fills up whenever you raise level in one of those major skills.

The moment you raise level you get a message in the screen which says: You should rest and meditate upon what you have learned. At that same time a symbol appears next to the compass in the middle of the screen, so that's when you know you're going to level up while you sleep.

I believe it's 10 skills that have to level up before your character level goes up. You can sort of guess it by how far the bar in the Stats Menu is colored red, but it would've been more clear if there where numbers indicating it, like in Morrowind.

I used to keep a little checklist next to me while I played, listing all the skills and indicating which ones were my majors and minors. Every time I'd get a level in a skill, I'd check it off on my list to keep track. It also helped me calculate exactly which minor skills to work on to ensure I'd get the +5, +5, +5 stat bonus at each level-up.

Actually, I'd only go with +5, +5 and +1 in Luck, which made it a bit easier.

I was going to maybe try this until......

You know, now that Ive played it for awhile Im getting used to it.
My biggest gripe is the user G.U.I. Its not designed for max. efficiency.
The really important stuff is put into your journal for future ref.
Bethesda really learned its lesson for Obliv and made a first class G.U.I.
considering how much info youre trying to juggle.
The only mistake they made for Obliv was no way to delete spells on the 360, it became unwieldily.
Morrowind to my surprise has one! You also move way to slow while running in MW at first (this might change later as you level up)
The other wtf moment in MW is trying to land blows on creatures that are one foot away like a mudcrab with a sword on reg. difficulty.
I even have "Long Blade" chosen as a starting skill.
Its a real headshaker:huh
Again, as you level up it gets a little easier as you grasp the odd game mechanics.
I can see why this got GotY however, there is alot to this game and its very deep. More so than Obliv.
If you loved the world and lore of Obliv you'll love MW. Its easier to place items on shelves in MW. Way more items and variation of items in MW.
The music is by the same composer.
It still looks pretty good graphically considering its last gen graphics.
Man if this thing had 360 graphics:drool

Clarifying About Next Elder Scrolls game, MMO, etc.

From Bethesda blog:

Apparently some folks got a bit upset by reports based on Todd’s talk at QuakeCon last week. An article came out where Todd was quoted as saying we had no plans for a TES V. He did not say that. That was not a direct quote from him. That was someone’s interpretation of what he said. I know, I was there.

At his QuakeCon talk he was asked when TESV is coming out and Todd replied, “Don’t look for a new Elder Scrolls game in the near future.” He also went on to say how much the franchise means to us and that it definitely will continue. He just wasn’t going to provide any timeframe on “when.” This should not be news to anyone that has been paying attention. Both Todd and I have said repeatedly that, of course, we’re going to do another Elder Scrolls game. The last one was enormously popular. So was the one before that. You get the idea. So do we.

Todd and Bethesda Game Studios are hard at work on their next big game, and we’re not ready to discuss it. As always, we prefer to have something amazing to show when we talk about it. We aren’t going to confirm or deny or comment on speculation, nor are we going to give hints about anything. If you know us by now, you know we don’t really do that.

In regards to the MMO comment, he was asked if there was “any chance of an Elder Scrolls MMO” and he replied — in a joking fashion — by saying “I guess there’s a chance.” To be clear, Todd and his team do not make MMOs, for any franchise, at all. We have another division – ZeniMax Online Studios – which is lead by Matt Firor, and they are working on an MMO. They have not said anything about what game they are making. When ZeniMax Online is ready to show what they are up to, we’ll let everyone know. Until then we aren’t going to provide hints or speculate on what they’re doing either.

Hope that helps clear things up.
