I totally agree!... You have to also think about this too its not like a flippers are buy everything in stock. SS is limiting the pieces to buyers, which is a good think. Cuz i've seen case where flippers will clean house and buyer like 10- 20 pieces, and basically leave nothing for the average joe. That crap inst fair.

Ah thats right...ah memories.

Sideshow would care because they want to make as many collectors as possible happy, and collectors are not happy when supply is diminished by flippers who put the item on ebay for double it's original cost. It seems to me that sideshow is interested in pleasing the collector first and foremost, and not just "the customer". Collectors are customers of course, but they are buying because they love the piece to display in their homes. In this case, the ES was fixed at 150, and so that isn't a valid argument here. People buying to flip is shadier than SS buying on ebay to cancel people's orders, to sell to people on the Waitlist. There is nothing wrong with taking shady actions against other people engaged in shady actions in order to stop them. It's justified. It isn't shady to cancel flipper's orders, but of course, shady to cancel regular customer's orders. What else is the SS policy to reserve the right not to sell for, then? To refuse to sell to someone because of their race, sex, religious or politics? That would be ridiculous. The best reason I can see to cancel a particular person's order is because that person just wants to flip.

I highly doubt that is why that is in there. It is just some lawyer BS to keep Sideshow protected.

Sideshow is interested in MONEY first, they are a business. Of course they want to keep the customer happy, they do that FIRST buy making things people want. Last on their list is to worry about flippers. All this doesn't matter because Sideshow doesn't give a ____ what you do with your order and they aren't gonna spend money to have someone buy ebay auctions and then cancel their orders. Why on EARTH would they pay for their own statues? That makes no sense. You don't have to preorder anything that is fine, there are plenty of people who will.

I will keep this in mind in the future when you sell a collectible and I will make sure you sell it for retail.

Edit: I guess they wouldn't be paying for their own statues because the flipper couldn't send it because they would cancel the item but then this would cause some sort of ebay shadiness. Regardless I still disagree. There is nothing wrong with selling something you own for profit. You snooze, you lose.

They WOULDN'T pay for their statues. They'd just use the buy as a method to get the seller's contact info, and then cancel that seller's order that way. Then the seller would have to cancel the transaction, because the seller would have nothing to sell.:) whoops, I see you edited. Well, the point is that they DON'T OWN the statues they list on ebay, because they don't even have them in hand yet. Listing on ebay before an item is in hand is super shady. Buying something to sell and actually having it in hand is quite different than listing something you do not even possess.

lol... that's right. I was sitting in bed waiting at 2 CST for this :lol

I can't believe that someone actually has the stones to tell me I'm a bad person for selling mine for a nice profit.

Did anyone ever say you were a bad person? A NICE profit? No. There is nothing NICE about that kind of profit. A very significant profit, yes. A mean profit, I think.

meh... I earned it :D

At least I gave a real collector, who couldn't stay up, the chance to own one. The way I look at it, I did them a favor.

Anyone who was dedicated enough to stay up that late on THANKSGIVING deserves to sell theirs for whatever they want.

Amen! I am so sick of reading Blackthorne's tirades against flippers. One thing he never mentions is that the flippers are the people at their computer each Thursday at launch or at the PPO and flippers are the people who watch for rare preorders.

Stop it, please, stop it. SIDESHOW made the ES of 150. If Sideshow wanted to make everyone happy, don't you think they would stop making super exclusive items like Retro-Spiderman, Negative Spiderman, Grey Hulk, and White Elektra? Yet, they still continue to make them. Why, because Sideshow knows that these super exclusive items, that will rapidly increase in value because of the tiny ES, create interest and hype for their products.

You know how many board members here and at statueforum I have sold preorder items to because I spent the time to be at my computer on preorder night? Some of them I made a profit on and some of them I sold for cost. However, if I hadn't preordered them, these other collectors would have had to sit on a wait list and risk not getting it at all.

I stayed up until midnight on Thanksgiving, while my family was asleep, hitting refresh on the computer, and dealing with the server crashes. You are a moron if you think it is "shady" for me to sell that item at a profit.

Your whining reminds me of my five year old; every night at bedtime, he throws a fit and acts like a baby before falling asleep just to repeat the same fit the next night.

I disagree. Sideshow should simply investigate all ebay auctions and simply cancel all of those seller's orders. A simple way would just be for sideshow themselves to buy the items, and thus get the seller's name and such, and then cancel that person's order. Thus, that person would not ever get the item, and so would have to cancel the transaction, because they won't ever get the item in the first place. Remember, Sideshow reserves the right not to sell to anyone. If someone would rather have money than a statue, then They should simply KEEP their money in the first place.,there is no reason for them to even buy the statue at all. I guess they simply want a free hand out. Money for nothing. n Rant over.

Thats a bit absurd. SS wants people to keep their orders, not cancel them.

Isn't this the same thing as Flexpay preorders? They collect money, for a profit, before they even have the item in hand.

From the looks of this auction https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320479058659&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT , here is another collector that is doesn't mind paying a bit extra to flippers. :D

You guys know you can search completed eBay listings right? A bunch have sold...$375 is the lowest it's gone for.

too funny...hahaha sign up for the flipper clan! hahaha...standard price.

Q: Hi, please can you respect the standar price that we try to establish, this a extremely limited edition of only 150 statues plus this is a WANTED character, price for this one must be don't less than US$700.00, please we need your cooperation. Thanks Jan-20-10
A: mislene1978, So I'm assuming that you're going to send this to eyeryone who lists this for a lower price. Sorry bud, but I'm not going to help you corner the market. How about we just let the market determine the value of this piece? Now that sounds like a plan to me!!

It's funny, people waiting on a website at the right time and secure an item, then making money off it from collectors or cancelling if they can't. I can see people making tons of accounts and doing it.

So what? I've ALWAYS been successful at EVERY PO except the Galactus LSB, and up every Thursday night for new items. I could buy about any fricking SS product I wanted to, with no problem.
So what if you were up until midnight on Thanksgiving when your family is asleep? People get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom all the time. People get up when they set the alarm all the time. Before TIVO, and VCRs, people would have to wake up to watch a movie on TV that they wanted to watch, like the time I got up early to watch Heavy Metal at 5 am on the Movie Channel back in 1981. Did I WANT to get up at 5? No. But it's what had to be done. Don't be so spoiled about "having to get up at a certain time when the rest of your family is asleep". There are lots of people with jobs that have odd hours, doctors who are on call, ect. If only I had known that there was going to be an item up at midnight, I guarantee I would have been up, no prob. If there is something you really want, you find a way to MAKE TIME. If you can't, then it proves that you don't really want that thing that bad, and that you have to do something else instead that is more meaningful for you. We all have to set priorities, and none of us can have EVERYTHING in life, so just accept that. That's just the way it is.

I just think it's wrong to flip. For the record, I have no respect for profiting from junk bonds, quick stock trades, buying rare collectibles for quick turnovers, flipping houses for huge profits, or ANY method of profit that does not involve WORKING for money. I know "this is America", but I don't give an F. I still don't agree with it, because it just seems wrong.
