Maybe when she die, sideshow can make a statue with the likeness of her. ;)

Its probly a lost cause dude, but it would be really cool, and you definately picked the best ripley scene for them to use, ripley with the taped together flamethrower and pulse rifle and all the eggs around her would make a sweet pf or diorama, i have that poster framed on my wall :hi5:

Yes is beautiful!!

Yup. Doesnt matter the artist, sculptor, company, brand, price or quality. When the actor/actress refuse to allow their likeness to be reproduced, thats it. Game over man.

You dont need to appeal to sideshow. You need to appeal to Ms. Weaver.

:lecture Nice! :lol :hi5:

I can understand that Sigs might be under the impression that turds like this can get released.

But high end statues have come a looooong way!

That is hands down, the most hideous collectible (if you can even call it that) I've ever seen. :slap :monkey4

I'd rather see a Colonial Marine like Hicks or Hudson then a ripely. Especially since there is a greater chance of geffing their likeness rights over Ripley.

If by some miracle SSC was able to get sigourney weavers likeness rights and they recreated the famous egg chamber with flamethrower and pulse rifle scene into a PFF, I might be tempted to buy it.

I cannot tell you how fast I would buy a Ripley PF, if I had the chance.

I find it odd that Weaver has the power to veto all such projects; I cant think of another example where an actor has that much power over the use of their likeness, concerning movie-related product.

Would also loooooove to see a Hicks PF.

I may be wrong on this, but I don't think its that she has more "power" per say. I think usually actor's/actresses just arent as stubborn! They take the money and just let it ride so you never hear about it. Weaver has apparently just dug in on this issue where others go with the flow.

Actually, the aliens cast is pretty riddled with stubborn people! Everyone blames Hot Toys for "bad sculpts" but its all pretty simple really.

-Hicks: Michael Biehn is super bitter to this day that they killed off hicks without even any preliminary talks about his possible involvement/interest in part 3. Salt in the would was not telling him about a dummy with his likeness that was supposed to show him with an exploded chest. He naturally wouldn't allow that and apparently carries a grudge.

-Apone: Al Mathews refused to grant his likeness to the Apone figure because he feels he had a roll in the creation of Apone's character and to even use his skin tone would be infringing on what he brought to the table (hence the much lighter complexion that was used).

That said, I dont know how much compensation Hot toys ever offered. It sounded like it may have even been nothing to Al Mathews! Maybe they didnt try too hard and they do deserve blame for being cheap skates?

Either way, I imagine lots of actors/actresses have the 'power', I just bet in most cases the money is right and it's never noticed.

I wonder if someone wanted to make a PF or figure based on her character in Ghostbusters would she allow it?

Unfortunately no one would buy that.

My point was that AFAIK, usually the right to use an actor's likeness for merchandise is part of the actor's contract; otherwise merchandising would be a nightmare. Weaver seems to stand alone as someone who has total power over where her likeness is used. I can think of no one else who gets that kind of kill-right over product featuring their likeness.

What I heard was that Biehn kept refusing monetary offers until finally, the studio just threw up their hands and wrote him out of the project. However, unlike Weaver they evidently had the right to use his likeness per contract and they went right ahead and used it in 3. See, this is a much more usual scenario.

Its really just too bad, because there would be a ton of money still left in this one film via merchandising, if only people would stop being so stubborn. A little cash would probably grease the wheels as well, and it aint like HT lacks cash. Or SSC for that matter.

Maybe I am too quick to take Biehn's side in the matter (as surely the truth is somewhere in the middle), but this is one of the articles he references alien 3. About halfway down...

But the highlights (I have tweaked the harsh language, rest is a copy- paste)

Michael Biehn: I got a call from David Fincher saying “Please, can we just… We’d really like to use your character.” And first of all I was like “F#@k you for not putting me in the movie.”

Jennifer Blanc-Biehn: Did you say that to him?

Michael Biehn: Probably. Yeah, I was pretty pissed off and “F#@k you for even calling me, so go f#@k yourself.” Now I wish I hadn’t, because now he’s (laughs)… Now he’s “David Fincher,” but I was upset at the fact that I was not in the new movie. What I said was “F#@k you for having that happen to my character.” There was no way I would ever let that character have a monster come bursting out of his chest, so you can forget about that happening. Jim wasn’t happy about that either, so they dropped that idea and then they came back and they said “We want to use your picture” and I said “Okay, you can use my picture. It’s going to cost you and it’s going to cost you a lot.”

I think you might be right but its possible Alien and Aliens pre-date however it is they run it now. And thus for those films we're just SOL for her likeness.
