The Phoenix comicon was this weekend, I just went today.

Ran into Aaron Douglass (Chief Tyrol - BSG) flipping through some comics, asked if it was okay to take his pic, and got this awesome shot.

That *is* a great shot, Scott!

Thanks Sam. I didn't know if it would be okay to take the pic, so I was sure to ask him, and he was very cool about it. He was there for professional photos/signatures for $30/$40, which I wasn't going to do, so I'm glad I was able to get this. I was fully expecting to see the clean shaven Tyrol, so I almost didn't recognize him.

It's cool to know he's a geek too, flipping through boxes looking for some certain title.

I still managed to spend a good bit of change, and mostly on independent books.

I'm surprised at how many anime/Manga people that go these comic cons now. Specifically, the aged 10-16 girls dressed up in cat outfits or a character from final fantasy, carrying Asian umbrellas. Pair them with their male tennage counterparts carrying fake oversized swords and num chucks around, and they make getting around in the convention a bit of a hassle.

And the vendors that sell their crap to meet that Manga demand are probably loving it, because these kids had lots of cash and were lined up ready to pay.

Anyone going this weekend? I'm thinking about stopping by...mostly to get some stuff signed by Mignola..and to see Helio (BSG) :drool :lol and Adam Hughes....got family in town though and this weekend is supposed to be nice and wanted to get some yard work done......still debating.

I may just bring a few items and see if I can get them signed. :D Definitely want the HB books I got autographed. :rock :rock

Mignola will sign anything and everything for you but you better get there early since his lines tend to be pretty long. My only gripe is that he doesn't really like to do sketches, not even quick ones. I've tried 3 times now with no luck... :(

I'm still thinking about going. Might be kind of fun.

I went a couple years ago and had a good time...nothing like SDCC of course, but for Seattle, it was pretty good. :lol

Yeah...I'm not surprised his lines would be long.....got the Hellboy coffee table books I would like signed...though they are so heavy...do I want to lug them around......:lol :lol Still debating.....I just dropped $600 on new contacts and glasses so I may have to pass so I'm not tempted to buy things I don't need.....but I would like to drool over Helo a bit. :lol

Okay...I'm there....not only is Helo going to be there...but so is Saul and Tyrol....plus Jewel from Firefly.

:lol

Well I got my ticket for Saturday. :rock :rock Mike Mignola also did a limited edition Hellboy print with Hellboy standing in front of the Ballard troll with a cup of coffee. :rock :rock Gonna pick one of those up. :woo and maybe get my pic taken with Helo. :drool :D
