Let me preface this by saying that I'm a HUGE Romero fan and as I am curious I feel as though this ship has sailed.

I'm a fan of Night, Dawn and the Dead films and that's about it. The last I saw of his work was Diary of the Dead, and I thought it was awful. Land of the Dead was a complete joke.

With Walking Dead I already have my story of what happens after the helicopter flies away. If George had the foresight to do a TV show instead of the "Found Footage" thing he made (and the garbage that came after), maybe Walking Dead would be going into a crowded genre instead of vice-versa.

EDIT: Diary of the Dead - Thank you. I can't believe I saw that in the theaters.

I give him credit for Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside, most collabs with Stephen King, etc. I think when started up again with Land he lost touch of the zombie film.

I think I blindly went in and bought the DVD after it came out... haven't watched it since :pow

Damn I forgot about his work on those, they're great.

While I agree that Diary of the Dead wasn't a great film, it was still typical Romero. It was social commentary on cameras, technology dependence, television, and the constant eye of Big Brother. Land of the Dead was great fun. Toying with the idea that the dead will eventually evolve. Overall I thought it was a good movie.
Now, Survival of the Dead....that was pretty bad. It was at that point I began to worry about Romero's mental health. And I liked the remakes of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. Day of the Dead, not so much.
The best of Diary of the Dead was I didn't even know Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black was in it. Didn't know who she was then.

"Land" was very generic in terms of cinematography, characters were meh.
"Diary" was a god awful film on pretty much every level.
I'll try "Survival" today just be to sure.

Bottom line? Romero is an old man, he couldn't make anything good since 80s.

I'm in full agreement with you. I have yet to see Survival, but I'm sure it's more of the same garbage.
