Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Dang Predator! Really beautiful paint job on Pote! I wanted to ask you if you were going to do something like liquid latex for Ree Yees' neck. I thought about that recently and wanted to see how you were approaching it.

Predator...that is awesome. I'm just about to tackle Pote myself.
Just putting the parts together for the outfit myself, I wont be going "screen accurate" but it'll be as close as I can get it.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Talk about coincidence I'm doing Ree Yees too. Please tell me more about the neck you did? I was going to use super sculpey but I like the liquid latex idea. Can you paint the latex?
How easy is it to sculpt?
I'm rubbish at sculpting so hopefully it's easy enough.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Thanks.

That latex idea sounds promising.

Keep in mind my Ree Yees neck movement idea might not work the best, but here’s how I did it. I made a barrier of several layers of foil between the original head and Truetype neck to body. I added the two part Apoxie Sculpt putty. After the putty cures, I remove the layers of foil. A void is made between the new Apoxie Sculpt neck and the figure body, allowing some minor articulation. I used a Dremel tool to remove some of the chest area of the figure.

The big test will be when I get his jacket done using the great guidance I’ve read in the forum.

Yeah J, the liquid latex you can paint. But now that'm thinking of it, Chaka did some boots for a Snowtrooper a while back using cut rubber gloves. That might also work with two times less of a hassle.

Predator, your method seems solid. I'm stoked to see where this goes.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Thanks again for the nice comments.

I take pics with the paints to help me remember what worked and what didn’t. Here is what I tried in case it might be helpful either way - good or bad.

I might be guilty of making the washes too dark. I keep trying to make those mind-boggling details pop.

Now for the more challenging parts - the custom clothing. I don't have those amazing custom skills to go for screen accurate. I kept putting off that task and started another figure instead. I must get on the clothing task and do my best.

beautiful paint ups...............:thud:

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Thanks so much.

They look better at a distance. Up close, I keep obsessing about some detail I could not get right. "I'm afraid" that I woud mess it up more trying to fix it.

I feel very motivated to get these finished up so I can move on to the next batch. :D

Thanks for the helpful advice.

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Those looks great! I really like that you gave Ree-Yees eyeballs. I just painted the eye area black on mine, yours seems more life-like.

The washes look great, I dont think you went too dark at all. It makes them seem more alive and dirty. Well done. :)

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

I also noticed the unusual effect of the light refection. I should provide some info on the eyes. I painted them gloss black then applied a red baal wash to the edges. Then I added a gloss coat. The white you see is a reflection of my light / magnifying glass.

If I do one again, I probably would paint the eye gloss black and stop there.

Thanks again. :hi5:

My wife is about to teach me how to use her sewing machine. Wish me luck. I'm going in.

I would not have guessed that was a reflection, pretty cool. Its amazing how much adding a gloss coat to eyes makes the figure "pop".

Good luck with the sewing machine. :)

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

LOL Btw Enaud nice painted sculpts!

Sorry dude-I can only accept credit for the sculpts themselves. As for the paint jobs, bashes, & other customizations....those compliments should be directed toward the several talented, fellow SW freaks who have shared & posted their great work for us here to see, drool, & enjoy.:clap

Re: Enaud's 1/6 Custom Headsculpts,Etc.

Ah... Gotcha... can't wait to see them done, none the less. :)

thanks. I learned so much. I only sewed through a thin skin layer once and I didn't even feel it.

THANKS AGAIN so much to all the helpful customizers. I don't always comment, but I love seeing the awesome creations.

Here is my custom 1/6 scale figure of a relative of Ree Yees.
