Not that it will or anything but you guys just seemed to all just jump in head first on cleaning these things. ACETONE FREE or not there are chemicals there that COULD effect the CHROME PAINT in some adverse way. I guess time will tell though.

Do you know for sure they used paint for the base "chrome" finish vice a vacuum metalized or electroplated coating? That type of chromed/mirrored look is very hard to achieve with paint, especially if you want a robust finish.

You don't have to like the cleaned combat look and you can certainly do whatever you want with yours. You bring up a valid point, but I don't believe the chrome base will suffer from the demonstrated cleaning process.

Now, if you use something as harsh as straight acetone, I'd worry.

That's my point. "YOU DON'T BELIEVE" it will suffer from the cleaning process. I don't know I would probably contact SIDESHOW and ask them first before I experiment with any chemicals on my $500+ collectible. That's all I wanted to convey in my comment. I have been around here long enough to see guys customize their collectibles and others try the same thing only to damage theirs and not have a good result. So like you stated you can do whatever you want with yours. Just keep in mind your CLEANED COMBAT LOOK may over time result into a TRUE BATTLE DAMAGED melted flaky chrome look. I hope thats not the case but I felt I would let you at least make you aware of the possibility.

Personally I like both the COMBAT and the CHROME look. Whether or not the COMBAT version just has black spray paint on it to give it the BATTLE look it still works for me. I think of it as a BATTLEFIELD weathered look. I also prefer the HEAT TREATED effect on SIDESHOWS CHROME ENDOBUST. I hope that whatever chemical that is in those pads will not have any long term effect on the CHROME paint. I would hate to see the paint start flaking off after a few months. Not that it will or anything but you guys just seemed to all just jump in head first on cleaning these things. No. The bust will be fine. After close inspection, anyone can tell that it isn't a flake based chrome paint overlay. A few of you are acting as if the non acetone pads may be the equivalent to alien acid blood over the course of time. Ridiculous really.. lol

If one were to worry THAT MUCH, then I'd suggest doing what I did after the pads. Apply a coat of chrome polish onto the bust, not only for the brilliant shine, but to buff out any remnants of the "alien acid blood" non acetone pad solvent remaining.

Here's an easy idea for you guys who keep doubting the cleanup method: DON'T DO IT. I could care less what you do to be honest. Not trying to be a ^^^^ but some of you are acting as if it's my mission to persuade you to clean your bust. I simply offered advice through my learning experience and the end product speaks for itself.

Just ask the guys who have gone the same route I did.

Hey bro. Just an observation. We discuss here right? You may be 100% correct on your cleaning process that it is safe for the chrome finish. But again my point was to make others aware of the fact that there COULD be a chemical reaction on the chrome and again I guess time will tell. I know guys really wanted the CHROME VERSION and price has put it out of reach for most of us. And you come along with an unproven at least to me CLEANING PROCESS and everyone just accepts it without questioning the possible and I say POSSIBLE long term effects it could have on a pretty expensive collectible.

You seem to be in the know. That being the case, how did SSC achieve the base "chrome" finish? If you are not sure, it is equally speculative on your part to say there will be adverse long-term effects.

I get your point AR, I think we all do and those who are wary of doing this to their own will simply avoid doing it. As abnpredator noted, nobody is required to alter their bust in this manner and fellow Terminator geeks will not shun you for keeping your combat finish.

First of all where did I ever say that it "WILL" have adverse effects bro. I said it "MAY" have adverse effects. It's discussion man so lets discuss all angles and opinions. And as for the TERMINATOR GEEKS shunning me. :lol That's a good one.

We got the point brother, more than once. Ask your doc about some Hypertension meds. :p :peace

And we continue to discuss. Nothing has changed. I'm not sure how you missed the flurry of those questioning the procedure from the getgo, so I'm not sure that was really the factor.

Bottom line, the consumer will choose to be happy with an Endo bust that seemingly got attacked by a paintball gun, or they can use the available resources to make it look like the truly iconic chrome endo represented on the silver screen, without having to pay up to $1,500 for the original "clean" endo bust.

Me personally? Not a fan of the paintballed terminators... :lol

I think we both made our points. And at the end of the day we can agree to disagree right? It still doesn't change the fact WE are all TERMINATOR FANS :D

And not that it matters but I just TRADED straight across my SIDESHOW BATTLE DAMAGED for a SIDESHOW CLEAN CHROME version because it's the one I really wanted.

Forgive me...you advanced the argument that it could.

I said it "MAY" have adverse effects. It's discussion man so lets discuss all angles and opinions.

Roger that. We are discussing, are we not? We just happen to disagree about the topic of discussion. Both sides of the argument are purely speculative absent some type of scientific analysis, but it isn't blind speculation. I have put a request in to SSC asking about the exact process used to achieve the finish, if that makes you feel better. It isn't a straight silver paint job. Regardless, my bust will still be cleaned.

That isn't speculative and there is no way around it...we are all, in fact, Terminator geeks.

I do see AR-Ballistics point, either way I will wait until it arrives to see what the paint job is like.

Excellent bro. Give an update as to what SIDESHOW says about it all. As for me feeling better... it really doesn't effect me either way as I have a CHROME VERSION showing up on TUESDAY :banana. And yeah , I am a fellow TERMINATOR GEEK:lol

It has just left the U.S.A via NYC airport at 12:57pm today! :rock. All my items are usually posted the end of the week, and I always get them on tuesday :rock

Will do. They may say it's proprietary, but I'll let you know if they say anything worthwhile.
