Glad to know there's a bunch of us taking the nail polish plunge. We should all put up before & after pics:naughty I'm gonna buy some of those nail polish pads later tonight

I have not seen one in person..yet ;) , though I think I like the battle damaged version more. Just me :D

I always wanted a chrome one but didn't have the money when they first went on sale. When the combat version showed up on backorder in September i took the plunge with the intention of cleaning it up. To be honest, once it arrived the finish was so great i decided i would leave it as a combat version and maybe order another one to clean up. I've managed to stop myself ordering another one so far but after seeing how easy it is to clean i might just have to find a few hundred quid and get me another one! :D

Are the combat versions actually regular versions with shipping scuffs painted over with "combat damage" to hide the flaws in the shiny chrome, or did sideshow start a whole new production run that was weathered from the start?

The combat damage is basically someone flicked black paint over the chrome. Just imagine you'd dipped your toothbrush in black paint then ran your fingers down the bristles while aiming them at something. That's essentially your "battle damage" luckily it's nothing as horrible as the painted on "dings" of the full scale endo's

Ok, so I just bit the bullet and paid for one :rock! Should have it at the start of next week :banana!

Congratulations! Just make sure you use the non-acetone wipes he used (or non-acetone nail polish remover). I'm not sure if acetone will be safe as it is a very "hot" chemical as far as attacking finishes and plastic. Besides, it appears the non-acetone variety does just fine with whatever weathering paint SSC used.

That bottle of "Regular Nail Polish Remover" he said he hadn't used yet was acetone based. Does anyone here know for sure if straight acetone can be used on these?

Mike
