Brought to you by the people that made Heavenly Sword, that's all they had to say.

What is it? Ninja Theory, the people that made slick PS3 hack and slash Heavenly Sword, return to action with a game based on the ancient Chinese literary classic that Damon Albarn made into an opra. But don’t let that put you off.

Why we’re excited: Because we’ve played it. Publishers Namco Bandai let FHM get hands-on with a game that’s been written by Alex Garland (The Beach, Sunshine, 28 Days Later) and directed by Gollum boy Andy Serkis - who also plays lead character, the gruff and acrobatic Monkey - in a fully mo-capped adventure.

It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world that, for once, isn’t a dusty ____ hole. Instead, it’s like they’ve taken Avatar’s Pandora and just plonked it on top of New York; all clapped-out buildings covered in lush and freaky plants. There’s a whiff of I Am Legend too; humans are gone but it wasn’t long ago. And best of all, you’re tasked with getting a girl called Trip home. Trip is easily the hottest computer game character since Lara Croft...

Don't like that he doesn't look like a Monkey... interest quickly waned :lol

BTW, when I saw the title my first thought was some kind of odd game about the United States role in Slavery :huh

Heavenly Sword was terrible and from the looks of it this one doesn't seem to have much going for it either.

Heavenly Sword terrible? Come child you must see the light, short it was, but terrible it was far from. It was a solid action game. I'm pretty sure it didn't get generally positive reviews for being terrible. Perhaps that is your taste in games?

Played through the demo on Friday. Graphics are nicely detailed and the illusion of scale is cute and effective. Voice work/acting is nicely implemented also. The game was fun to play, defo an improvement over Heavanly Sword with fast flowing and varied gameplay. What i dont like is that it felt too 'on rails' with no scope to do your own thing and explore. Whilst you've got this epic landscape all around you, the game still shepherds you from point a to b. Worst crime committed though is that there's no skill involved and you can be as imprecise as you want jumping around but you simply won't die. This just takes the tension away and makes it feel like you're just participating in an interactive cartoon with a mildly diverting generic sci fi story. The combat adds a little to proceedings but was a bit meh and been done better a million times before. In conclusion ladies: It was enjoyable but the demo has zero reply value imo. I predict the game will be a weekend renter at best...NEXT!

I think the generally positive reviews were skewed a bit since it was released so early in the PS3's lifecycle.

I found it to be extremely mediocre.

Enslaved looks pretty good, though.

Any positive review it recieved was probably out of sympathy for the PS3s desperate need of even a decent rental at the time. Unfortunately even calling it a rental is an overstatement.

Surprised with the demo out today no one has been posting thoughts. I played it and really enjoyed it, I may have to pick it up. I think I liked it more than I thought I would. It reminded me a lot of current games...at times the combat felt like Bayonetta, and the acrobatics reminded me of Uncharted. The styling is cool as well, going back to New York where it's covered in forests and what not.

The demo takes place in the first chapter of the game, the very beginning. It's broken down into chapters like Uncharted.

Ok double posting is frowned upon, but triply posting I need to test the waters, because this thread should be hot with the demo now and up and being awesome and all. I expected to see this thread on like the 5th page, but not one person responded since last night come on now?
