A few of you say WTF is EB doing with this....
Look at it this way, this will open up to all BBall fans who may of never seen a 1/6 figure to the standards of what we are used to, the amount of non collectors is huge.
Thats my opinion! you may laugh at them now but If done right, EB may be laughing all the way to the bank!
AND thats just Asia, I'm not talking about USA or Europe......
I'm one of the few you mentioned.
Look at it this way, most BBall fans don't even know the existence of 1/6th figures, not past the standard of Barbie and the like, and, as you say, they are non collectors, so apart from perhaps becoming aware, they will baulk at the price tag of such an item.
That's my opinion. I wonder how you might envisage that they be "done right". For Enterbay to be successful with this line, I would envisage they would have to somehow connect with all the fans that aren't collectors, because as I see it, after the first wave of collectors bite there's going to be a huge amount of shelf warmers, costing Enterbay money.
They usually announce an edition size. So they'd want to release the most popular figure first, to test the waters. Then they'd either chuck it in or move on to another player. The time frame mightn't bother them as much as it does us collectors, but I can't see slow release times working for them so far.
Sure I'm biased because I'm not a sports fan, and basketball isn't as popular here as it once was.
