Dave....would it make more sense to blame this on license agreements rather than to point the finger at activists? I mean, if these guys had this stuff into production or up on their site before they had an agreement, then that's the real issue. Of course they would have to pull them! Not sure if that's the case, but something doesnt sound right about yanking them because someone yells racist....especially when the company who's manufacturing them is not in the US. Something aint right.

The problem with society is that opinions are like *******s, everybody's got one, they all stink, etc., etc., etc. I'm sick of pussies and politically correct people with sticks the size of the Empire State Building shoved up their politically correct asses getting their ways all the time. I can't really blame them, though. We are a product of our society, and when we're all being taught about "sensitivity" and "feelings" and that we shouldn't have to toughen up, but that the rest of the world should stop being so mean and pat us on the back for our aforementioned "sensitivity," this is the kind of **** that happens. What they don't tell you in all of those science fiction movies is that the totalitarian society is there because of people like this calling for it.

It's disgraceful. Maybe I'm making a big deal out of something as simple as "action figures" being banned, but I think the point could be attached to many different societal issues. I can't stand these prissy idiots, I can't stand they're opinions, I can't stand the fact that we share the same oxygen with them, and frankly, I think it's about time somebody told them, for once, that they can't have their damn way, and that they should shut their ****ing mouths and deal with something that they might not agree with because, at the end of the day, life is a *****, and, if you're that "sensitive" that you have to be complaining about dolls, life is going to be a hell of a lot tougher.

That's another thing. These are the same people who, if they could have their way, would've had the film censored. I always thought that I, and others, would never want to see the day when everything put out was censored and controlled. Well, frankly, that day is coming sooner than we think when, little by little, these people get what they want. At the end of the day, I think we should let our voices be heard. If they want to shout "no" from their rooftops, it's about damned time that somebody told them they're not going to get what they want unopposed.

Unofortunately those prissy fools are entitled to free specch and protest too.

Similiar thing happened over here. There was a promotion in The Sun newspaper twice a year for two weeks where you get those Lego polybags when you buy the paper.

Some ugly woman got her panties in a bunch and started a petition calling for Lego to pull out of the deal as there are topless womens on Page 3, a bunch of others joined her in her quest to ruin it for everyone and they won

I collected those for my nephews (and myself in some cases :lol)

Whenever i bought the paper on these occasions there was never a kid buying the paper it was always adults for Children they know or for themselves.

And now we have to lose out because of some high strung PC indidivduals.

They are, but it's about time that the people telling those prissy fools to "shut the **** up" got the same exposure as they did.

I'm not sure why you think Enterbay is a bootleg company, because they're not.

The most likely scenario is that Weinstein told them to stop a while ago, but Enterbay was fighting them on it. This isn't like NECA in which, NECA already made their money when the decision was made. EB likely has already spent a significant chunk of change on a license advance, probably around $20k. And EB was probably trying to negotiate so they could recoup, and Weinsten just kept saying "No". I'd be interested to know how Weinstein made it right with EB, that decision could've likely cost EB $500k in lost revenue. Of course, that's also $50k in lost royalties for Weinstein. . .

Either way, I'm sure Bill is pissed as **** right now. EB just can't seem to catch a break. . . though Jordan seems to be doing well, haha.

If that's the case then is it safe to assume that the upcoming Blu Ray will be cancelled as well?Did they boycott the Oscars for having Django nominated?

Unfortunately it's the "toy" thing that has made this an issue. Since action figures are perceived to be only for children, then having figures from a movie about the evils of slavery somehow promotes slavery and encourages children to think slavery is okay. I'm guessing that's what the argument might be - I really can't see into the minds of the idiots that would protest this.

It is solely because Weinstein wants to avoid this kind of controversy - it has nothing to do with anything else.

I have no idea what the numbers are, but I think you're on the low side on the loss this will mean to EB.

Well, I didn't want to go high and make people think I had no idea what I was talking about, and make it look like the sky was falling on EB.

Depends on how big the production run is, my math was for 5000 pieces. But yeah, it's a huge blow to their finances. I would think Weinstein would have to give them the advance back, I don't know if there is any precedent for a licensor giving a licensee money for lost production costs.

I have to believe that if these were scheduled to ship in May, that they were already on the production line. I'd imagine the factory has already been paid. THAT could be the real sticking point. There was a story a while back that Bill stiffed on older factory and that's how all those Bruce Lee figs got out on eBay that were fraught with problems. It's not hard to imagine that a bunch of Candie and Django parts will show up on eBay in a few months. That's probably what EB and Weinstein were fighting about. . . rampant "unlicensed" product out there.

Blame this on those who don't have the b@lls to muscle up to the activism, rather than on the activism itself.

Anyone giving the green light for an apparently contentious movie to be made should have the courage of their convictions to defend the manufacture and sale of said film's merchandise.

But no... they've folded it seems and they should be called out as gutless.

Hey this seller says he has Calvin Candie
"New, never opened. IN HAND and can ship ASAP (not preorder!) " for $220

Why are enterbay waiting until april to announce these are cancelled? Unless they are in negotiations with the weinstein company about other licences to make up for cancelling django.

Hopefully thats it otherwise the chances of having pulp fiction, kill bill etc figures would be very slim as enterbay probably wouldn't want to deal with the weinsteins ever again over this.

EB ought to sub out all the work they've done to Asus, ACI, Brothers Prod or some other bootlegger and get the figures out there.

I still want to hear official news either way. Then I'll worry about my pre-orders and bashing.

Sent from the Monolith.

skooternb, just curious, why are you not convinced by multiple carriers taking these off their sites and refunding those who pre-ordered? To me, that's evidence enough. I WISH I was wrong. But I don't think I am. I would like an official statement as well, but I think the cancellations of preorders is proof enough. Then again, I'm new to 1/6 collecting and I don't know if something like this happens often and ends up getting resolved. I've never heard of anything like this happening before.
