Just received mine and opened it up, and... I suppose it doesn't look that terrible. The sculpt has definitely been softened but it still works and captures the character, and in hand it doesn't even seem that overly pink (the hands though definitely are). And aside from some inaccuracies the outfit is pretty nice as well.

Here's a few shots of the figure on one of Coco's bases.

Great work, dave! Pose is nice as always, also good job on the hair. Did you even out the face paint? Anything else?
Nah I haven't done any modding yet. I'm sure I'll touch up the paint and redo the hair at some point though. And I'm tempted to make him a longer and bulkier coat as well, as I really love that look in the movie. But not sure if I'd be able to find the right fabrics for it.

See three posts up from your question.

Damn, I can’t believe it’s possible to make him look this good without excessive work! First in-hand pics truly are a plague on this hobby.
I think that's mostly from people taking pics in super bright, washed out lighting, which makes pretty much every figure look like a cheap doll. If you just dial down the brightness on your phone you'll be able to see a lot more detail and get something closer to the proto pics.

Managed a cursory look. My low expectations were warmly surprised. Not a bad little figure. It was a lot of fun opening that Burton-esque black-and-white box.

Only 'oops' so far is I noticed a strange X mark on his right relaxed flipper glove -- on the fatty meat between thumb and finger. Is this a unique mark for me or is this a factory thing? Anyone else have it?
