I have the impression that the EU market is no longer of interest for SSC.

Excatly. They've made a business calculation and the result is that the non-US market is of no interest to them so no point in doing anything special for customers outside the US. Which is fair enough if they haven't tried the cover-up: "we're doing this for the benefit for the customers outside the US, shipping will be cheaper ect ect ect .... " which is a bloody lie

What they're saying to us in the EU is: "p*** off - we don't want your business, you're nothing but trouble"

Just had a dinosauria piece delivered via the UK warehouse and I'm having another of the same dollar price shipped by Fedex from the US warehouse. Should be interesting to compare final bills on both methods, as well as compare condition of packages etc. I'll report on my findings.

That will be interesting to see...

If that's true, that's not good enough. We're all human beings, and we all like collecting. Sideshow is a big collectibles company and they shouldn't just cater to people in the US. They'd soon be up in arms if there was a big collectibles company in the EU who didn't have a US warehouse.

Personally, i only stick to LOTR dio's, unless something else catches my eye, but so far it hasn't. I'd love to get all the dinosauria line, but as the exclusives aren't must-haves for me, i'm hoping to pick them up from shops over here at some point.
I just really hope they don't release a must-have LOTR diorama exclusive anymore!!

I know international customers have VAT, etc. added on to their shipping costs, but your costs are NOT high, all things considered. I live in CT in the USA. Of course, it is about the farthest you could get from Sideshow's warehouse, but my PF shipping costs are regularly between $30-$35.

Compare that to, say, this to England:

my final invoice without the extra charges on obviously, seems like it used to be $25 for shipping so no saving there,

Item # Description U/M Ordrd Shpd Back Price Ext
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Comments: 1/14/10 Printed and sent to shipping. LG
PC 1 1 0 $159.99 $159.99
AH! Mystique Comiquette
------------
Sub Total: $159.99
Discount: - $0.00
Freight: $32.24
Sales Tax: $0.00
------------
Invoice Total: $192.23

Granted they are different sizes and weights, but a PF using ground shipping within the United States seems to cost about the same for a comiquette using air shipping to another country. We're ALL paying a lot for shipping. And Sideshow is known for having more expensive shipping prices. If you want to order direct from Sideshow, it comes with the territory.

I'm not complaining because I'd rather pay the extra bit for exclusives or for the piece of mind that they will usually be able to replace defects within a reasonable amount of time.

i wasn't really complaining either, just showing what my bill was. it's obviously not cheaper though like they said initially it would be. all in all for an airmail fedex delivery it's a very good price but once the extras get added on it wont look so clever overall.

I know that it's the add ons that will kill you. But I also know that when I privately ship things overseas, the prices are usually double to 3 times the cost from CT to California. I think they're at least getting international customers a good base shipping cost, considering it is about the same cost as they charge to ship within the United States.

While I can understand the frustration of additional charges that may be charged now with items shipping direct from the US (customs). To say that SS is doing this purposely to piss off and/or alienate International collectors/that they don't want your business etc is just silly imo.
At the end of the day SS are a business and clealy having the EU warehouse was proving more costly than benefitial, hence the change.
We have been lucky to have an EU warehouse and I for one although sad its no longer gonna be there can understand it was a business decision to close it.

In addition to SS I buy regularly from CS Moore and Aspen and they don't have an International Warehouse. I've always expected to and had to pay the Customs charges on those. I considered the fact SS had an EU warehouse a blessing as it avoided those charges but it was something I was grateful for rather than something I expected.

We were lucky, it was good while it lasted and I thank SS for having it.
It is a shame that this change has happened but it was obviously a necessity otherwise they wouldn't have made the change.
For anyone to say it was done with any malicious intent against International buyers is crazy talk imo, but that's just me.
x :peace

I just got a processing mail for the HT Michael Jackson "Thriller" figure and shipping is $42.18. That's a few bones more then before.

well, I'm going to have a 'wait and see' attitude to this.
Got my assaji/anakin diorama today via fedex. Shipping was definately faster, now I'm just waiting for the inevitable invoice from fedex.

Shipping was $25.00

Gift card enclosed. (nice touch to keep the deal sweet, but it would be better to be able to use this on pre-orders as well). Everyone knows that the good pieces never really make it to 'in stock' status unless they have some left after the waitlists.

If it turns out bad, I'm going to cancel my pre-orders, hopefully won't get shafted for the flex pay forfeit as they changed the shipping after orders were made.

D

got a quote back for shipping to england on a cammy 18" mixed media statue (basically a PF) and it was $47.60. seems quite high and almost double the example given for the blackbeard statue. well, double in the end, 7 or 8 times the initial example.

Yeah as they said the smaller less expensive items have higher shipping as they were able to get better rates for the bigger boxes, that $47 is what they tried to charge me for a 15" Trick R Treat Sam :(

Got my shipped notice on BiB Spidey but no final invoice so I don't know how much it cost to ship. This happen to anyone else?

i got a couple of emails but the final invoice i got after the piece had been sent out had a shipping total on it.

Its nice to know the shipping cost before it ships. This should be a standard policy.
