It would seem if they had just used red thread instead of grey for the diamond pattern the cape would be more accurate. Of course it seems like the pattern probably goes through the back of the cape, so they had to use grey so it wouldn't show up on the outside.

I'm still eager to see it in person! And still don't have a place to put it...

I must be missing something (surprise! :google ) I am not convinced that they even used thread/stitching. It looks silkscreened. Of course the hem is stitched, but is the "diamond pattern" as well? Either way, I agree with MR on this one, it doesn't have the same effect as the Attakus.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I just received a FedEx preshipment e-mail!!!

A package from Sideshow is due for delivery tomorrow--and it's a 27 pounder...

Wonder what it could be???

i told you tom!!!! i knew you would get it.(i pulled some strings and put a hit on the fedex guy if he did otherwise)

,..congratulations tom,.. now you will get a very high number,.,, .just as a punishment for all the complain and bitchin you did here,.... :rotfl :monkey5 :monkey5 :monkey5

I just got a notice too - but it's 46 lbs.! I know I didn't order 2 Grevious... Could I be getting one of the first Predators off the boat?

See you got your notice after me and still are getting it earlier than I am. :p

The effect Attakus pulled off is much easier in a statue than what SS did with the PF version.

Dave, I also got a 46 pound e-mail. The only thing I have on order from SS coming within the next few months is an Ugluk I got off the waitlist. I already have my Grievous Exclusive in hand and my Anakin Ex. is in transit.

What in the hell is this invoice for? Maybe the weight is an error, and it actually is my Ugluk.

Edit: Actually, I thought you were talking about the HT Predators and I completely forgot about the Winston Predator I have coming! I paid mine in full on May 15, and I had since forgotten about it. I never even considered it could be shipping.

It's my most anticipated piece!!!!!!

I was thinking that Dave...

Just got a Fedex invoice and the only thing I have coming direct from SS in the US is the Predator...:chew :chew

That's conjecture; and, I don't deal in conjecture. All that matters to me is the end result which is Attakus got the inner cape right and SS didn't. Anyway, it's still a fantastic piece overall. Congrats Josh, tom (especially for hanging in there) and everyone who got this piece. :)

I can't believe that after all of my insanely obsessive (or is it obsessively insane) levels of stressful anticipation over the last week or so, I won't be home when Grievous finally gets delivered!!! My wife will get to sign for the package.

I'll bet that the FedEx guy will be relieved that he isn't delivering to the usual freak who rips the package out of his hands in a rabid frenzy...

Not to hijack this thread, but I also got my "46 pound" shipment notice. Looked up the order number and it IS Predator. Woo hooo!

Oh, and I'll be getting Grievous by the end of next week! :chew

Well, in a glass is half empty kinda way, I'm a little bummed it's not Grevious. I haven't had time to really fret over the Predator yet!

Dave, I'm in central California, so I'm still a few more zip codes away from Sideshow than the Los Angelenos. Monday will see the last of the Grievous shipments to the patient and loyal Southern California crowd. But congratulations on the Predator!

Somehow, it seems appropriate that while we were all excited over Grievous, the Predator snuck up on us from behind and took us all by surprise...

Guys, why are you even comparing the Attakus cape to the Sideshow version??? One is made of cloth, and one is made of polystone/resin. It's easier to make a cape look good when you can mold it any way you like, and then paint it to perfectly match, than it is to take a piece of cloth and sew it to create hundreds of diamond patterns. Not to mention trying to find the EXACT color cloth to match a computer generated cape.

The 'look' of the Attakus cape is much better, but then it was SCULPTED that way. You can't do that much with a piece of cloth. Yeah it COULD have been better, I'm satisfied with it, but it could never be as good as a fully sculpted and painted version, ala Attakus.

The pictures I have seen left me with the impression that it was not sewn, but a silk screened (or whatever) diamond pattern. The amount of time it would have taken to actually sew all of those diamonds in there would certainly have caused the exclusive to cost more than it does now. I am satisfied with how it looks in pictures, and am glad that it is basically a "freebie" that didn't raise the cost at all vs. the regular version. Given the choice between this and a more expensive statue with a fancier cape, I would have chosen this. It's really stretching my budget as it is...

Actually, we did try an embroidered version during development. The tight embroidery pattern created two problems - it was so heavy that we feared it would damage the figure, and it was so stiff that it looked very unnatural draped over Grievous' form.

The embroidered version is still floating around the office. I've seen it used as a bib on a couple of occassions.

The final version is silkscreened.
