I've asked these questions at TF and SDCC and the answers (though they may change) are:

-LOTR Exclusives: SSC is a bit more liberal with what is done with exclusives in this line. For instance, both Legolas and Boromir come with Lothlorian cloaks... Keeping this in mind, using a slightly retooled Legolas hand with Obi-Wan is OK. (this was a reply at TF from either Heath or Seth if I recall)

-Luke's blaster: This, when the time comes, will be resculpted and painted differently. (this was from Brant or Tom at SDCC 2006)

At the end of the day, if it makes sense to break the rule and resue an exclusive, big deal. Will it really affect us in any way other than positively?

I don't mind exclusive items being repeated as exclusives (like the Lothlorian cloaks), but making an exclusive a regular item defeats the purpose of an exclusive to begin with. If it is modified, then I'm fine with it, but a straight re-issue is a big no-no.

The only problem now is, how is Aragorn going to end up with a Lothlorian cloak? I guess they could get technical and say that Legola's and Boromir's cloaks only were the exclusives, and not Lothlorian cloaks in general.

I think what happened with Boromir and Legolas is that you get the hand and orc head which are completely exclusive, but as an extra bonus you get the cloaks as well. They are exclusive in that the regulars don't come with them, but no a exclusive to the character/figure only.

Now with the hand being added to Obi Wan that does change it a bit, but I doubt many bought the exc. Legolas just for the hand... and I imagine the paint is different on Obi Wan.

They're also very specific with the wording. The exclusive versions of Legolas and Boromir come with cloaks, which themselves aren't limited to one character, and an exclusive accessory (head or hand), which is. Thus all of the items together make an exclusive because they include cloaks and a unique accessory. The cloaks in and of themselves aren't exclusive, but rather add to the exclusivity of the figures release.

So the exclusive item of the exclusive figure in addition to the exclusivity of the cloak (while not exclusive to the character alone) is what makes them exclusive. Got that? So much exclusion . . .

Wow, we just had the exact same thought--cool. Out of the mouths of two or three witnesses--it must be true!

Personally, I am fine with exclusives being re-used either as exclusives or as regular accessories. I do not feel that it detracts from the exclusive versions of other figures because the exclusive versions are still different than the regular versions.

But as a big fan of accessories...I hope General Grievous and Jabba's cronies come with their when the time comes.

Eeeew who would want SSC to make Jabba's skiff gaurds anyway? Make figures that haven't been made yet. Like EU character's for example Mara Jade or Grand Admiral Thrawn. I'd love to have a Mara figure kneel in front of Luke.

Thats just wrong.

I like the idea of reusing exclusive items. It pisses people off just like when you mention large edition sizes and reissuing Patient Zero.
Its so much fun watching the elitists get edgy!!!
