The figs look great in the detolf, just need the blue suit to complete the look.

The metal rod is actually longer then the shelf height but I found if you pushed the stands right to the back then the rod can go through the gap at the back of the shelf, the effect looks really cool imo.

As mentioned by nexus the suits are really great looking and top quality with metal parts, the helmets are also fantastic looking and feel really well made. My big let down is the Bowman sculpt.

I just noticed something great-- They took my advice about making the fittings real metal on the chest box, the forearm keypad, and the arm/thigh details. They had first planned to make these features plastic with silver paint, which would have looked distinctly cheap in contrast to the metal helmet-wrist-ankle rings. I can see in the video that these features are now gleaming metal, and I am VERY glad this was changed.

The Bowman sculpt is really creepy.

And the paint on his irises is just . . . way off.

By comparison Poole seems to have little beady rat eyes.

But the suits look good, if perhaps a little skinny.
The environmental controls & backpacks look fantastic.
As do the helmets.

That's really impressive.
I'd say Poole definitely outshines Bowman.

Video I done on Bowman & Poole figures.

Nice sound track. :clap

Who's up for a sixth scale Discovery?:wink1:

I just got my DHL tracking number on Jan 20th from Executive Replicas and when I checked on that day it had departed Hong Kong. Today the 22nd (at 2am in morning) it shows it being in Cincinnati, OH already and passed customs. So after you get your tracking number it looks to be pretty fast. Just depends how many orders came before yours possibly. I ordered direct from Executive Replicas when I made my order.

OMG! It arrived. From China to me in 3 days!

Bowman sculpt is good but oversized and somewhat exaggerated- the decals on the eyes are too cartoonish- that makes it look bad. Some fixes will improve it until someone comes out with better HS

Looks like it... But one thing worth thinking about is that most head sculpts - like many HT - are in fact undersized. Maybe these are actually pretty close but looks oversized compared to other figures?

I just looked at my Bowman that came.

First Impressions:
• Bowman head sculpt reads exactly as Keir Dullea circa 1968. The head sculpt looks really very good. The paint app is fine, but not as detailed as a Hot Toys, but still good. My take is his eyes do look good to me. The decal doesn't seem cartoonish on the eyes but maybe simpler in detail, even though it seems to photograph as bolder than in person. Hot Toys paints the eye with less white and more detail, so I think that is why some here think the eyes stand out too much. Hot Toys has perfected the realistic eyes better than anyone. The facial expression is not the subtle relaxed version of the head sculpt from the "Spenser" Bowman, but a more emotive expression that mirrors the end of the movie.
• The helmet is beyond awesome. It even has the detail of the inner black rim behind the glass around the inner front visor edge!

Haven't assembled it yet, but I'm off to order the other 2 (Poole, blue suit). This is a must have collectible for those who love or are just interested in 2001: A Space Odyssey. I expect these to sell well. I'm praying for a silver suit.

I was going to ask Spenser if he had an extra Dave. I don't think he ever did a Poole sculpt. Great thing about that is it could also be a Gary Mitchell from Trek.

Wow that Spenser sculpt just nails it. The ER Bowman sculpt looks quite cartoonish especially with decals for eyes. Also don't like the dark skin tone.

Dunno... I think his eyes are too small and 'normal'. Dulleas eyes are big, blue and his eye sockets dark. A mix between the two would nail it.

Yeah sure, the eyes are bigger but at least they don't look like Cabbage Patch doll's eyes.

Well, especially in this case the size of the eyes is quite important. Especially when wearing the helmet.

Interesting, the reaction to a $390 figure like this, compared to a $240 figure like Beetlejuice.

Just shows that there's always buyers out there, regardless of price. People were pretty critical of the price tag on these earlier in this thread, but most of those folks moved on.

I think that the reaction to the price in the first place was mostly peoples (myself included) regrets that we would need to invest that much money - even though we all knew that an high quality and extremely limited run from a 1968 movie hardly could be cheaper than these. Unfortunately. I think we are all just relieved that they didn't turn out crappy. ...the reaction to a Sideshow product is a different story. They are 'mass producing' figures at HT prices and do not mach the quality of HT.
