Kirk, Uhura, Spock, Sulu, and others all had great villainous Mirror U. counterparts (some impersonating) yet were all interesting in their own Prime Earth persona too, not just " straight laced" as you suggest. So not sure why anyone (other than lack of imagination) would default a Prime Lorca to just that?I honestly never had much interest in seeing the straight laced, good guy version of the character. He was far more interesting as a villain (or just as a cranky Starfleet captain like we originally thought he was).
While Prime Lorca would yes likely be a charismatic, moral, headstrong survivor, he'd also now be furthered by circumstance toward more an anti-hero.
The whole point being how adapting and surviving in the Mirror U. Terran Empire, would affect or change him, what extremes he might justify or need to go, to survive without losing his own humanity.
If done well, could be an interesting role for Isaacs to pursue, especially if he's interested in reviving the character.
And if set during SNW, now played against Pike, who might have his own expectations of him.
Absolutely.Yeah, but the contrast would be great! Star Fleet straight lace, vs. anything goes Gabriel!
Just "straight lace" isn't surviving the Mirror U, done right, obviously would be much more to Prime Lorca's character.
FYI love the photoshopped Lorca image, it'd be fantastic if he returned with goatee.
