Oh if the cool white suit scotty wasn't made and it was instead the Monster Maroon that would be a shame. He's more iconic outside that uniform.
Yeah I would love a TMP/TWOK Scotty with standard TMP uniform and engineering uniform so people could variously pose him with TMP Kirk or with TWOK Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. So many iconic options beyond just posing the figures.

In addition to preferring Commander Sulu from TWOK to Captain Sulu from TUC for the display, as others have mentioned, I'm also not sold on the TUC Sulu sculpt. I wish EXO would FINALIZE these sculpts before the marketing begins because although I like a pleasant surprise as much as anyone, but I'm tired of GAMBLING on these releases to be better in production than proto.

That said, this approach is probably a bit more buyer friendly than the Hot Toys model where they show off their one of a kind JC Hong paintmaster in promo materials and then make us wonder how bad the production slide will be from figure to figure, but I for one would just like to see exactly what I'm buying for once!

There is the space issue and then there is the script issue. I’m just not sold on this one and I’m one of the TOS dude that has bought every TOS related release. I might wait this one out . Think he will be available for a long time is my hunch. Mirror Sulu was so much more superior to this one

One the one hand you might be right because the excellence of the Mirror Sulu sculpt was pretty much in universal agreement, and yet he only sold out a short time ago after being available for immediate purchase for what seems like forever.

On the other hand, you can't underestimate the power and the draw of those TWOK era Monster Maroons we've been waiting on all these years! If this is our one and only chance to get Sulu in that uniform, he may be MUCH more popular than you may expect.

I was very surprised at the lack of immediate sales of the Mirror Sulu. Same with the Mirror Spock. I would have bet money that those two would have sold out long ago.

The head script just doesn’t look right at least with that has been shown. From certain angle, Sulu looks unfortunately like he is not well.

Ordered Sulu via Sideshow - it's a frustrating way to collect a crew to be honest, as I'm now in possession of a TMP (Kolinahr) Spock, a Saavik on order, and now a Sulu on order. Anyone else get the idea we'll miss out on at least one figure that we really want from TWOK or TUC?

The sculpt looks great from straight on. But that seems to be pretty common with digital sculpting, where they spend most of their time capturing the likeness from one angle and not the others.

Yes, and the other thing that I realized after looking at a photos of the real guy is that Takei has kind of a pencil neck, like Bones. The figureres of both do not reflect this, which detracts from the likenesses of both.

Doesn't look like a "pencil neck" to me.
