I wish they wouldn't keep taking Biblical epics and turning them into Hollywood spin with aliens distorting the truth. If you want to make a Bible movie, do it. If you want to make an alien movie, do it. I haven't seen much on this and am basing my alien comment on an earlier post in this thread.

Has anyone seen Exodus yet? It isn't getting the best reviews, but I wanted to hear my fellow freaks' thoughts.

I went in with the lowest expectations possible after reading some reviews, and I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would.

Saw this last night in a nearly empty, small theater....

I also went in with really low expectations and after (foolishly) reading a torrent of reviews on IMDB, most of which were either simply hysterical over how the story was handled or sounding the usual stream of cut-n-paste comments that come from those who probably didn't even see the movie.....

...I really liked it. I didn't go in expecting a so-called "accurate" historical, theologically sound take on this well-known story. I went in as a Ridley Scott fan who wanted to see what kind of imagery he'd splash on the screen telling this tale....

And I found it beautiful to watch. It moved at a good pace, had great effects when it needed them and provided a different take than we've seen before of the Exodus story. I liked some of the performances (Edgerton in particular really dove it the role without hamming it up).

I can certainly see how those who hold this story sacred could be put off be some of the choices Ridley made here...but as a movie, it worked for me. The visuals, the score, the production...all top-notch.

Chalk this one up to another movie rejected by the masses that I really liked.....
