Hey stickman, I hope all is OK with you! Saw where you went to Gettysburg. I've been buying the DiD and Soldier Story figures. I picked up a Marine fighting knife from the Soldier Story flame thrower figure (Monkey Depot) parted out and the Thompson machine gun and amo pouch from the Soldier Story 101st Airborne Bastone figure. I'm going to put them on the Tarawa Marine because the Marine would also had another weapon while assigned to the 30 cal.
Did you find any more about your Civil War anncestory? If you visit Gettysburg again let me know and I can show you some neat things about the battlefield. My anncestors faught there on both sides.
Hey there Brent, long time my old friend. My civil war trip was amazing but too quick. I hope to go back to Manassas in July for the Sesquicentennial.
"On July 21, 2011, the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Commission and the National Park Service will co-host a commemorative event marking the 150th anniversary of the First Battle of Manassas and a key point of the sesquicentennial in Virginia.
Just as the First Battle of Manassas was a pivotal and transformative part of the Civil War, this event is a pivotal and transformative part of Virginia's sesquicentennial commemoration. Speakers will explore not only the legacy of the Civil War but also the tremendous opportunities of the sesquicentennial, which marks the 150th anniversary of both the Civil War and Emancipation. Governor Robert F. McDonnell and University of Richmond president and award-winning historian of the American South, Dr. Edward L. Ayers are scheduled to speak.
A weekend-long series of events will follow the commemorative event, including the grand opening of the Civil War 150 HistoryMobile and a number of tours, living history events, lectures, films, and more. Visitors can explore a Civil War encampment that emulates Manassas Junction in 1861 - - a sea of tents, depots, fortifications, and signal towers. Museum exhibits like “Color in Freedom: Journey Along the Underground Railroad” will highlight larger social issues beyond the battlefield.
The 150th anniversary commemorative event at Manassas National Battlefield Park is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Registration begins May 1, 2011."

This should be a great time for re-enactors.
I'm hoping to make Gettysburg again on this trip. Doing anything big this year?
I have not been able to find out more about my Ancestor. Both names are in the family bible and they were both in the same location so it's tough to get it pin-pointed from the little I have to work with, but I will keep trying. How is your son doing? Work going? Great to see you back,
