The hardest part of painting heads is the Eyes for me. I see that the anime figs have eye decal transfers anyone see anything out there that could be used for regular heads?

Eric

Used these before:

those look good got any closer pics.

What should i look for on the site?

This web page was posted on OSW a couple of years ago. The poster said to shrink them down to 2% but I didn't think that was small enough so I kept shrinking till it looked small enough but I haven't printed one yet so I am not sure. I was going to print them on water slide decal paper and give it a go either later today or tomorrow. I will post results when I have some.

Oh wow. I have been thinking about this exact issue. I paint everything but the eyes decently, but the eyes just kill me.

I have about a dozen heads I need to paint, so this will be worth trying. Thank you mooncat!

I saw that site too Bees have you ordered from there before?

Eric

Nah. I'm not brave enough to paint up a head sculpt yet. I looked into the decals since the eyes are the most intimidating. Didn't get any further than that though.

I bought the "photo-realistic" decals from Archer...not particularly impressed. Relatively grainy printing upon close inspection. To call them "photo-realistic" is a bit much.

hm does anyone have close up pics?
if anything, It'd be easy to "trace" over with paint afterwards and still maintain the crisp circle :)

That is a very clever idea. I will definitely try that. Unfortunately I use oils so with the unfinished heads I am still working on will not be able to be tested for two weeks at least.

I was all ready to send the unused sheet back (they do stand by their products), but cost/time-wise I do have decal paper, with an eye print that just needs to be worked a bit to make good.

I tried them but it was realy hard to get then to stick they stuck mostly to my fingers then the head i was painting. I'll give it another try with the film cut closer to the eyeball.
