This is a horrible idea, I hate the idea of screwing with something for the sake of screwing with it. I'll be watching though to see if the new writers and the new voices can even be passable. McFarlane does so many primary voices that its going to be more than noticable.

When I read the opening message I had 2 things come to mind:

1 - Remember when Tom Wopat and John Schneider sat out a season of Dukes of Hazzard and were replaced by 2 different guys who were supposed to be cousins of Bo and Luke Duke? I think they were Vance and Cody.

2 - Remember the movie Wayne's World when Wayne walked off the show and suits decided to keep making the show?

This is a very bad idea, Fox should just show re-runs until the strike is over. This will cripple the show for me and I just won't watch it.
Seth doesn't just do Peter, Stewie and Brian, he also does Quagmire and Tom Tucker. With him gone not only will they miss him in the writing department but the whole show will feel different. This sucks!

So, when is Futurama coming back?

As much as I hate Family guy, I do agree that it's a bad move on Fox's part if we're getting the whole story. To revoice the characters is a mistake no matter how you cut it.

The only way I can see this working is if they intentionally draw attention to it in a humorous way, by casting voices that sound TOTALLY different and making side-jokes about it throughout the episodes. Still, that would only be a very temporary band-aid for the problem as it would get old pretty quick...

That could work if they have everyone catch a cold but I would say thats good for maybe one Episode.

I bet they'll just send those characters to Europe or something for the season and then slowly wipe them from everyone's memory and try to replace them with new characters. It will be called Some Family Guy

This seems insane. Then I remember that it's Fox. At least The Simpsons are set for the next 17 episodes. It's one of the few non-reality shows that will have new episodes for a while.

After reading both articles, it sounds like Fox is only trying to complete 3 nearly finished episodes. Beyond those 3, the articles were very vague. I highly doubt they would jeopardize the series by creating all new episodes without the original writers and talent.

On the plus side, at least some post production people will stay employed to polish those last 3 episodes.

here my friends is greed at work without taking the family guy fan or the talented seth mcfarlane into consideration.

for christ's sake fox, LEAVE IT ALONE!!! the smart move would be to show reruns until a settlement is reached.

new line and pj come to mind. i'm guessing that once the execs from fox sober up, they'll back off this stupid idea.

That's how I see it playing out, maybe one good episode but the punchline can't go on forever. Hopefully Fox just watches ratings and pulls the plug once ratings dive, but what worries me is how this affects the show overall. Is McFarlane going to take offense at this and this whole thing snowball into the end of the show again? It's one of the few shows I like on TV now, I'd hate to see it fade again cuz of some greedy **** in a corporate office trying to come out on top amidst this strike.

I always had a hard time telling those two apart. :lol

I don't think it's a good idea either but I'm still curious to see how they handle it?

this has me more upset than when Dick York was replaced by dick Seargent on Bewitched... :monkey2 :banghead :monkey2

it was probably best because dick york had died. unless they wanted to do a 'weekend at bernies' type theme which would have made it Ok except bernies didn't come out until a couple of decades later. :google
