Warning a slight Spoiler ahead.

I read this the other day:

A Storm Cloud? They can't be serious.
They can show the Silver Surfer as he appeared in the comics but not Galactus. I want to see a Kurbyesque Giant not the menacing cloud from Independence Day. At least in Independence Day they showed the actual pay off of the spaceships. This is just as bad as what they did to Dr. Doom.

This on top of the unfavorable early reviews FF2 has received doesn't give me much hope for any sequels. I wish Marvel would never make a film with Fox again.

Seriously?! :google

I hope this isn't true. I wasn't a big fan of the first movie, but had some hopes for this one. And I liked the idea of Laurence Fishburne doing his voice.

The interesting thing is I read a loooong time back that Galactus would never be shown and the reason they called it "Rise of the Silver Surfer" and not "Coming of Galactus" like originally rumored, was because the screenwriters wanted the Galactus saga to split into two different films. I never expected to see Galactus in this film because I really hope we hear a voice from behind a cloud and maybe a shadow behind the film as an end off of this one preparing for a third and not just a floaty, fluffy cotton ball that we have to call the "Destroyer of Worlds".......

Hmmm...
Its an unnamed source in the AICN article which should be taken with a grain of salt.

Online rumours have been running rampant this past week over Fox's "Fantastic Four: Rise of Silver Surfer," and a lot of them got shot down today.

Word surfaced earlier this week at AICN that a Seattle test screening took place for the film, and slipped out the factoid that Laurence Fishburne had been cast as the voice of Galactus. This was followed-up yesterday by an AICN report that Galactus will be represented in the form of a storm cloud.

After some back and forth with Fox publicists, they sent along the following exclusive official comment on the whole issue:

"Laurence Fishburne is officially the voice of the Silver Surfer and not the voice of Galactus, as some other fan sites have stated.

There was never a Seattle test screening, period. Finally, moviegoers will have to wait to see Galactus in the movie, but fans definitely won't be disappointed."

Outside of the official statement, others have Fox have called around and again cite that "nothing was shown in Seattle or anywhere else." No comment seems to be made on the Galactus design short of them confirming they won't go on the record about it - makes sense considering it's the big finale of the film and they likely want to keep it under wraps until its released.

Poor Doug Jones. The only film where they actually use his voice is the one film in a language he doesn't speak...

But I have to say that Fishburne is a great choice for the Surfer.

Would a galaxy spanning planet muncher really look like a human being though? I always thought that was kind of lame - even as a kid I'd be like "so what the hell is he standing on?"

John Byrne established in his run on the FF title that Galactus is perceived in different ways by different galactic species i.e. in such a way that mortals can comprehend with their finite intellects.

He was always standing on a platform or attached to a larger structure in space.
But I personally find the giant ominous cloud an even lamer concept.

They might be doing it like the reveal of the mother ship in Close Encounters.
Huge cloud coming towards Devils Tower with all these other worldly lights coming out then, "Hello!"

Could be impressive if done right.

Agreed. Fishburne could turn out well indeed, but I was hoping for someone like David Hyde Pierce.

A CLOUD!!!! :(

WTF!!!!!

The only good part about FF2 was seeing Galactus.

Thank god SM3 is comming out this summer.

Between this new news and those $h***y looking robots in Transformers this summer is gonna be a huge letdown. :monkey2

I think whatever they do with Galactus they'll have to make some major changes to his comic look for the movie.

There's no way a giant man in a blue and purple costume is gonna fly, but I'm not keen on the cloud idea either to be honest.

I read an official interview about the movie and remembered someone stating that Galactus would have "a presence" in the film.

Not sure what that means yet.

Look at the Galactus from Marvel Alliance! He looks awesome!!! If they use tha Im fine!!! And Galactus true form nobody knows why? cause every diferent spicies in the universe sees him in a diferent form! Like Humans see a humanoid what ever alien planet sees him as they are ect... So its part of Galactus to be seen as a humanoid figure! IMO
