I believe what you described, is the literal definition of insanity
Speaking of which, I'm off to play Far Cry 3 - a better waste of time than talking about this "film".

I couldn't believe it was in the finished film like that.
Actually I really couldn't believe that action scene with the Thing being dropped out of a stealth bomber that was in every single trailer wasn't in the film. I get the very distinct impression the relatively unknown outfit Trank handed the CGI duties to, especially with the reshoots and rumours of poor communication, endless demands for revisions, etc, couldn't actually finish some of the shots and that's why those scenes were completely absent from the film.
Anyways, I just got back from this cinematic version of a hooker on an abortion table.
I will say this, Tim Story's F4 movies are masterpieces compared to this.
They might've **** on the source material and had a not so great Reed, Sue and Doom plus a human size Thing but at least there was an element of a fun and energetic family dynamic with some pretty decent action, a comic book come to life.
This movie was made by someone who had no business trying to emulate a great like Cronenberg in writing, directing and character study.
You could tell it was made by someone who thought they were being a genius when in reality they were outputting grade school drama.
Directing/Writing is much more than just talking about a great idea and vision with cinematic history being thrown around trying to sound all smart, any ***** can talk big.
Filmmaking is about working with hundreds of people simultaneously from dozens of departments to bring that vision to life, empowering others with your confidence and gaining their respect and trust thru a collabrative process starting at the top all the way to the bottom.
The second the departments lose faith in their director they're immediately going to the producers to complain and the snow ball starts there.
Trank is a little kid driving a car on the LA freeway, **** is going to go bad quick!
The build up in this movie, the first "quality" hour, was even worse than what Tim Story gave us, because at least Tim Story was mature enough to follow thru all the way to the end with his build up.
Don't even get me started on the so called superhero action. It made no ****ing sense!
This movie is a 1/10.
Nah, **** that, 0/10.
I would stand in Times Square naked with a sign that said "Godzilla is Coming, We're All Doomed!" before I ever watch this movie again.
Yep.
I don't remember everyone ganging up on fox whe DOFP came out.
Actually that shot of Thing was part of Trank's original cut which was shown to test screenings. Its from the original third act where the FF and Doom have a much longer cat and mouse game in Area 57.
Cousin owed me $10. Took me to see this movie last night as payment (free popcorn too!)....
He still owes me $10.
I thought The Swarm did that in '78?
What is GR2?
Damn. You and I were both able to see the good in ASM2 despite its many flaws. I can't even imagine how bad a superhero movie must be for you to rate it accordingly. I'm *almost* tempted to watch it just to see how terrible a movie can be.
They were before it came out though.

I think the point was a lot of people willingly ate crow on that one when it actually turned out to be an enjoyable movie (for most)
Another thing...I don't think the actors they chose have the gravitas to deal with the super hero bits in this movie. Theyre all fine when they're doing quiet indie style scenes with (trying to be) witty dialogue back and forth, but as soon as things start to get action oriented and they need to be yelling and screaming, mourning over dead characters and proclaiming dramatic comic dialogue between villain and hero, it becomes cringe worthy very quickly...i love the actor playing papa storm and he was great through out...but his death acting was lulz
By the the time they became superheroes Kinberg was directing
The whole ending was taken out for being too dark and not comicbooky, so I think that's what the reshoots were trying to address. I can't really fault them, or anyone other than the writers and Fox what happens in the last 20-30 minutes or so.
pturtle I do feel bad that you didn't get a fun time at the movies out of this since you were looking forward to it so much.
Did the part where "They'll see it anyway" lowers his squeaky chair have people guffawing with laughter? The trailers sure seemed to think that that moment was comedy gold.
