Well they can try of course, but it seems unnecessary since there are already hundreds of existing comic characters to choose from, who would fit into any given situation. Why re-invent the wheel?

It's not about re-inventing the wheel, it's about adding to the wheel. Ok, that makes no sense....probably, but the point is, they can add new characters, which is not a bad thing, and they already create new characters in the comics all the time, so the MCU being its own separate entity should be able to do the same. In fact, they have done that already with smaller roles, but it would be cool if they did the same with a hero or a villain. Plus it allows the writers and filmmakers to create characters that fit the story organically, rather than having to pick some random character from the thousands of characters in the comics and then having to make it work in a film.

Also, with original characters, they have complete creative freedom, both with the story and visually, since there's nothing to compare it to, which is always a big issue whenever they take a character or a story from the comics and people don't like the costume, design or changes to the story because it lacks "accuracy" to the source material. It also gives the actors freedom to create that character, since they aren't limited to a comic, although that's not always an issue. That might help them develop a good villain, since that's one of their weaknesses. In a way they already did that with Ultron. He might as well be an original MCU villain, since he was Ultron in name only, but people would be more forgiving and might even like that character if he wasn't being compared to the comic version.

Also, look at SW, they could use some random character from some novel, but they created a new chick, the sweaty black dude, the football robot, and a new villain. Do I care about them? Not really, but if they are well written and the film is good, I might like them. I think it's a matter of time before Marvel debuts a major villain or hero in a film. And when that happens, WB will be kicking themselves for not doing it first...again :lol

I'm sure that's going to come out around the same time as Terminator Salvation 2 and 3, Terminator Gennyseiuse 2 and 3, Green Lantern 2 and 3, Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4, Sinister Six, Venom, and "Spideyverse Female Character Movie."

Of course they're going to say that right now. They won't say "nope we're abandoning this" while it's still in theaters, they have to still try to get some people to go see it.

Then again, I almost think they would do more just to spite Disney.

this looks kind of fun. Looks funny but entertaining

I think I will try to find it to see it. I rather watch this than the new one. (Im not just saying that, this looks kind of charming in a cheesy way)

It's a bad movie, but it's a fun bad movie. You can tell the budget was like $900, but they do their damndest.

Got a VHS player? I don't think it's on DVD or BR
I could try & find a torrent I guess.

Couldn't be bothered. :lol

There's probably plenty of bootlegs floating around, but Vintij could always download the youtube video and burn it, or torrent it. It's not on DVD or BR because it was never officially released, the whole goal of the movie was to retain the rights. It's a prototype Amazing Spiderman.

I dont know I think I am starting to realize that Fantastic 4 maybe is just a stupid idea in on itself and no movie would ever be good.

Im really sorry for the comic fans but the more I see about them the cheesier they appear. even the cartoon was cheesier than most hero cartoons.

the stretchy power is kind of stupid when you think about it.

He looks mighty amused by something.

Certainly is.

I agree. Torch and Invisible Woman are the only one with powers with a damn. Much better than stretchy guy and burnt breadcrumbs.

The consensus is that the Corman version is the most entertaining of all the FF films, right? So does the cheese benefit this franchise? I haven't seen the Tim Story versions, how cheesy are they? This latest version is Cronenberg type body horror, so maybe that's not the right direction to treat the material with, especially if it devolves into generic super hero-y shlock at the end.

Maybe full out camp is the way to go? Or maybe just make it like The Incredibles, just plug in the Fantastic Four characters and keep the tone and style of that film. Maybe even get Brad Bird to make it.

:exactly:

Pretty much this.

Is not that the Tim Story are cheesy (Which they are) but they are lame in the sense that in the first movie they don't even do any super hero stuff until the end
(which is ironic since this new movie feels like a remake of that one in that sense)

they save people in a bridge from a fire or something and then at the end they fight doom really quickly.
You have 4 heroes and there are only two action scenes... Even Ghost Rider and Daredevil movies had more action scenes than Fantastic 4 does :lol

But, the cheesiness and the playfulness actually helps that 2005 movie be better than this one. there are funny moments and you get to like the characters.

It's crazy that Trank and Fox thought that a soulless and dour movie was compatible with a property that starts with the name FANTASTIC!

What dummies. :lol
