Faux bronze just a fad?

I guess this could have been posted anywhere, but since Bowen has made this a pretty regular thing, I figured Marvel would be the most appropriate.

So, what say you, is it here to stay?

I honestly think the Bowen pieces are amazing... much more impressive than regular painted ones.

Depends on the piece in question and edition amount. If they made 3k bronze and only 300 painted everyone would want the color

I guess I was looking more at the bowen stuff. I'm hoping that they stick to just the key characters and don't start going all ape^^^^^ and making faux bronze everything.

Abomination... Probably just as a Hulk companion piece, dunno.

yeah the abomination is a hulk companion piece...as a retailer I like them as they are limited and they open up the market to a whole new level of collector..I think you will continue to see him do these with his classic and museum type poses...

Randy did it for a companion piece for those that own the FB Hulk.

These will be highly sought after down the road.

Prices may dip if a flood hits Ebay but they will go up fast once they dry up.

These are a level above any other Marvel statue IMO.

....or like the Star Wars market. They have WAY too much stuff. I love the movies and some SS pieces, but dang man. They produce way too much!

Agreed on all counts, but its going to be interesting how they decide A listers. Take venom for instance. He is a sub character from spidey but has a pretty big following. Does that warrant FB? Daredevil? FF? Who do you all think makes the cut

Its brilliant marketing really. I liked the painted Abomination, but I hate the painted hulk. So I won't buy the painted Abomination ,because he isnt a character that is worthy of a stand alone piece IMO. I, however love the FB hulk, and therefore want to get the FB abomination to go with it.

I think faux bronze looks great on certain statues...However, the painted ones look better.

Well, I only have the FB Star Wars dioramas but I think they look really good. I know a lot of people don't because they don't look like the Bowen bronze but the SW ones look more like a sculpture done by some dude in his shop making it for his friends (that may sound weird but I don't know how else to explain it.) And to be honest I think they are a bit of a fad since there seem to be a lot of these around and while this amount won't be sustained there will always be some of these around.

I joined that club a long time ago! I can't afford to get both Bowen AND Sideshow, let alone Faux Bronze issues. My goal is the Gray Hulk PF and that'll be enough for me.

There is too much Bowen stuff out there to want to slide down that slippery slope.
