Just curious what everyone's favorite foreign films are. I'm a huge fan of foreign films. Some of my all time favorites are, especially horror films and martial art films. REC is my favorite horror film. I also really enjoy IP man, Old Boy, Hero, High Tension, House of Flying Daggers etc. Figured id make this thread, because I know their are a ton of great foreign films out there that I haven't discovered yet.

Yojimbo. That movie is infinitely rewatchable.

I haven't seen it in ages, but I recall really enjoying Werner Herzog's remake of Nosferatu (the German language version). I need to rewatch that one.

I have not seen Yojimbo, but I have heard nothing but good things about it. Is it worth blind buying?

Great choices!

I also loved Angel A, Legend of Drunken Master, Brotherhood of the Wolf... and I'm sure I am missing some but just can't think of the names right now.

It's like a samurai spaghetti western if that helps you any. Toshiro Mifune is the badass of badasses in it.

I don't know which is my favourite, but my most watched are: Let The Right One In, Das Boot, Fearless, and The Good The Bad And The Ugly(technically it is Italian).

I never understand why people love High Tension so much when is easily one of the worst horror movies ive seen, ridiculous plot holes

Gotta agree with Yojimbo, love a lot of Kurisawa's work Ran, Throne of Blood, Hidden Fortress and Rashomon.

I also think Infernal Affairs 1-3, Brother, Stalingrad, Zatoichi and City on Fire are incredibly watchable.

Its been remade as Fistfull of dollars and Last Man Standing, and yes, I think its definitely worth buying if you've never seen it.

I would put most of the Kurosawa/Mifune movies up there on my favorites as well as quite a few Studio Ghibli titles.

I'm a big fan of Asian Cinema and there's still a massive list of movies I have I want to see but so far off of the top of my head if I had to pick some favorites I'd say.

Onibaba

13 Assassins

I Saw the Devil

Oldboy

Red Cliff

Battle Royale

Audition

The Chaser

A Tale of Two Sisters

The Good , The Bad and the Weird

Mother

Dream Home

Two non Asian foreign movies I watched within the last few months I liked. There's way to many to list overall.
