I was thinking the same thing, but after seeing it once, I felt no desire to ever see it again. I'm not sure I would have the will to sit through it.
If memory serves I didn't think it was bad, I just didn't think it justified itself as another telling of the origin story. And suit was crap.
In the beginning when Spidey is trying to stop Rhino while he's driving around the city causing mayhem, Spidey is joking around and doesn't seem to be taking Rhino that serious, he sees Max Dillion about to be crushed by a car that was flying in the air towards him (the scene in the commercial), but that car was previously just rammed by Rhino and whoever was in it is surely dead. Spiderman is still telling jokes and doesn't seem to realize it but I'm guessing this could have been an edit problem or something.
I was aware of that while watching it. There was some real carnage going on and Spiderman seemed in no hurry to bring it to a stop, kinda playing with Rhino (well, he wasn't Rhino at that point) and wisecracking. WTF! He's plowing through traffic potentially killing people! There's no time for play here.
And then when he faces him again right at the end, this time Rhino is even more lethal with machine guns and missile launchers and there's people all around, merely behind metal fence barriers and Spiderman is deflecting missiles with a manhole cover, dangerous strategy. Also I would have thought those missiles should have exploded on impact with the manhole cover....
Having said that, those are nitpickery points I admit, I'm sure you could make them of virtually any film in this genre....but since the Raimi films were having it done to them......
