I got the notice too and also want to see production ready images before they ship it, hopefully they will update the images with the next newsletter. I mean, if it's almost ready to ship it must have been approved quite some time ago to being able to go to production...

ah yes..

box/packaging/etc.

and the base of course !

I bet the idol will be about 5 or 6 lbs, then about 8 or 9 lbs for the base then the rest is the packaging.

But I could be wrong. I thought someone at the con got to either hold it or asked one of the guys how heavy it was. I don't remember what they said though.

This may be another case of "dimensional weight" since I don't think there's any way the idol and base are 17 lbs, even with packaging. But I could be wrong.

I am incredibly worried about the paint quality (and lifespan) on this one.

Same here, I already have the Gobler Idol, thats electroplated gold by the same company that did the real one. So the only reason I may keep this is for the pedestal. If anyone is interested in just the idol it comes with, PM me and maybe we can work out a deal?

I remember that post... The guy that held it at the Con said it was fairly heavy.

17 lbs would be all kinds of awesome.

Hope so, I'm gonna hold out on this until it's somewhere at a good price.

:whip

Me too. Unfortunately I'm canceling this cos lack of funds. But I'm hoping it'll be around for a while once it's released!

It'll be around for a long time, and at some point for a good discounted price, which is why I'm not in a hurry to pick this up now. I'm not saying that paying $180 plus for it isn't worth it, but when you pretty much know that it'll be sitting around for a while, and retailers will eventually discount it to move it, there's nothing wrong with waiting.

Sorry to say, there isn't much in the way of Sideshow product lately, with perhaps the exception of Marvel, that isn't hard to come by later on the down the road and for a cheaper cost.

I'm really having second thoughts on this and it's not because of the piece itself but rather Sideshow's paint problems as of late. This is one of those pieces where the paint has to be perfect or it will be plainly obvious. The fact that we have yet to see production pics on this really does nothing to bolster my confidence. It's a shame really when my decisions on whether I keep pieces isn't based on financial factors but rather guessing whether quality will be there or not.

Well, it's supposed to be chrome plated according to the website and it's the same finish all over. So I wouldn't worry about the "paint job" per se, only about whether the plating will chip off or easily tarnish. Regardless, when they post new pics you can bet they'll pick out a good one to photograph.

If you don't like it then you can just return it.
