I'm guessing this is the way Lucas wanted the idol to look all along but he didn't have the time or budget to do it so now he is making up for it by forcing all replicas to look like the stunt one. And I'll bet in the Blu-Ray version of Raiders they will all look like this one.

Howard's a VP and a suit... you have to go a rung or two lower to the folks at LFL who actually work through the approval process. THEY are the ones who can gum up the works at times. Of course, he's their boss but I highly doubt he'd care about this kind of stuff and probably considers it trivial minutiae.

Well, I pulled the trigger on this one. I figure I can always cancel if I find I don't have enough money. This is a piece I've always wanted. In fact, I was going to attempt to make my own in college. I even went as far as taking some reference shots from my video tape (off cable!) of Raiders. But I never got around to it. I was surprised to find that there were some replicas floating around, but they seemed to be too pricey. This one is pretty fairly priced.

Just noticed this this morning and had to point out that even this crappy little item even has the correct mouth as it was seen in the film. I'm still not understanding why Sideshow couldn't get this correct.

You won't find a better idol anywhere for this price, and this of course, is very much because of the pedestal as well. Even though SS made this inaccurate, most of the idols you find are and the ones that aren't are very high priced and for a good reason. For the price you just can't beat the SS version. Still, I hope they correct or are allowed to correct the errors present on the proto.
