Kodiak...I hate to call you out because you've helped me with information in the past....why are you so focused on trying to prove some sort of conspiracy theory on the Boba Fett. You seem to really want to hate Sideshow for this figure...

Just to set the correct tone going in - I'll be reviewing Fett, and I'll be slamming him hard for the plastic body.

I'm not sure where the idea that this is an injection molded body is coming from. From everything I can tell, it's hollow aka rotocast. There's no way it would be as light as it is if it were solid ABS through and through, and the neck joint and hand joints also indicate a hollow figure. In fact, solid ABS can even be more brittle than polystone - just ask the poor guys over at SOTA all the problems they had with Darkness. If that is the case, then the idea that this costs as much to mold as a solid ABS body is ridiculous. Can someone confirm whether that torso is actually solid? I'm sure the guy that customized the pose can at least tell us about the arms.

I find it amusing as well that Dave brought up the fact that the early PF's were padded wire armature and nobody minded. Of course, the runs were also only 1000, and they cost a hundred bucks less...

Buy this guy on ebay for $200. He's worth it, and that's where he's going to settle out for awhile. In fact, you may be able to get the non-exclusive even cheaper after they've been on ebay for a few weeks, but before they start slowly drying up.

For me, it's simple. Sideshow has used the excuse that the body and armor had to shrink at the same rate. If that's the case, we shouldn't see the plastic body used except on armored figures. I for one won't be buying another PF that uses the all plastic body until it's on ebay, well below retail.

Well, that's just not my style honestly. I've developed pretty thick skin over the the time I joined the board.

It's ironic that people label others here "Sideshow Cheerleaders" when we ALL belong to a Sideshow Freaks board...isn't that the point!!!

I'm with ya there. I thought the whole reason was to be a SS Freak/Fanboy/Cheerleader/whatever. Now, having said that I don't have a problem when people say they want to see things improved. It's all in the message that gets put out there. Just because someone doesn't like it doesn't mean you have to say it's crap, junk, rip off, gouging, etc.

IMO it's ok to not like everything SS does nor think everything they do is perfect. However, the wording people say sometimes does.

And before anyone posts, in a witty attempt, to discredit my comments....NO...We don't have to love EVERYTHING...but we also don't have to beat the issue to death like a pimp who didn't get his nightly take.

The sad part is Fett is such a popular/great SW character, and I do collect the PF line, and if I can't get Fett for aroud $200.00 I'll sell my collection. Fett is a must.

Sideshow should make an official statement on their site about Fett, don't hide from it, its making them look really bad, yes Brent stated something but they should make it official. Their losing a lot of customers, the cancelations have to be the highest ever, I'm a true Sideshow collector, my account will show it, but this is making me 2nd guess them. I can't have one without the other, and if I can't get Fett for what he's really worth then I'm done with Sideshow.

Well, I think it's pretty safe to say Sideshow "screwed the pooch" on this piece. This could have(and should have) been the crown jewel of the PF line, but they chose to cut corners and produce what is essentially a large Koto statue at 4 times the price. I can't fault the appearance of the piece as I do think it looks damn good(although not nearly as good as the one the guy at Statue Forum customized), but the fact that a PREMIUM FORMAT statue is hollow and weighs about 2 lbs. is an absolute travesty. I don't care how anyone here tries to spin it, there's nothing "premium" about a plastic statue. Combine that with the problematic range finder, the soft plastic base and the fact that they didn't even bother to use leather for the belt pouches and it's clear that they went the cheap route while still charging PF prices. I will still try to pick one up on the secondary market, but there's no way I'd pay Sideshow full price for an item that clearly shouldn't be sold for that much.

Oh, and just to prove how much I love Fett and the high hopes I had for this piece, I was willing to shell out the money for the ultimate representation of the character a couple of years ago:

I would've gladly paid double what Sideshow is asking for the PF Fett if they had done it right. I hope someone there is listening and that they will not make the same mistake again when it comes to future Star Wars PF statues.

They have made an official statment both here and in the blog. Also his name is Brant not Brent.

Jlcmsu...I give you a lot of credit, you stand up for what you believe and you say it. Your a Sideshow Freak and you love Sideshow and it's cool...you don't try to act like your a Sideshow Freak by posting on this board then complain about everything they do.

I've sometimes wondered myself why some on this board come here when clearly everything Sideshow does causes them to have bi-polar depression.

I come to this board because, like you I love collecting from Sideshow, it's that simple. If I'm also accused of looking at things through rose-colored glass then I'm sorry for being a fan and maybe this truly isn't the place for others who find so much fault in what Sideshow does. No offense, but from some of the continued hate some people throw at Sideshow I wonder why some people even come here.

This board is to discuss SS collectibles and other subjects. When the subject calls for it, you will read good posts and bad posts about a host of things including the products SS sells. We may love SS items but we also purchase these items. They are not given to us free of charge for beta testing. If something is a miss and we are paying big bucks, we would be ignorant clones not to say what's on our minds. And SS depends on this critique of their product because they are a great company always striving to be better. If this is something you and Josh just can't understand, maybe you should refrain from flaming those that choose to participate and start your own G-Rated board, where all the children have rainbow smiles and gumdrop wishes. Make no mistake, I love SS products but they are not the only collectibles company in the sea. I voice my opinion BECAUSE I like their products enough to want to see them succeed in a competitive collectibles market.

I'don't want to have to look thru the site for the statement, I read all the news letters. I had the figure on order, if I was getting something different they should of notified me. But I will no go look.

Sideshow has ruined the name Boba Fett.

Ok...seriously...this is getting out of hand. I just re-examined my Boba Fett just to be sure I'm not crazy and it really was a bad statue and I'm not seeing it. Plastic or not it ****ing rocks!

Sideshow made it clear a month in advance the changes with the ABS. They don't need to apologize to ANYONE!!!!!

If you didn't like the plastic you cancelled...that's it...end of story!

The only people that look bad are the people on these boards who have made such a big deal about this I question their sanity.

Please just do this...compare Boba to your other PF's and honestly tell me the amount of small parts, detail, paint application, etc...makes this a cheap piece of plastic...For god sakes the Hulk PF was just 30 lbs of polystone painted one color with a small pair of shorts yet you paid $350-4$25 for that piece with no problem! Boba looks 10X more complex and the *****ing hasn't stopped....wtf!!!

That life-size Boba is great, actually, all of the life-size SW statues I've seen look great, too bad I was like 13 when they came out, just a bit pricier than allowance money lol.
