No doubt Van Gaal is a master tactician...will be good to see how he gets on in the premiership

Van Gaal was Mourinho's boss for some years at Barca. He plays a very similar game like Mou - fast on the counter. But he isnt as pragmatic as Mou. Last night's match was like the defeat of new Barcelona to the old Barcelona with Robben and Sneijder filling the roles of Rivaldo and Guardiola under Van Gaal.

With 3-4 new signings and a bit more of the dead wood cleared out I think United will bounce back from last season a lot quicker than their detractors have suggested.

Louis Van Gaal is not just operating on a different level to David Moyes, he's in a completely different universe and if last night was an indication of how he likes his teams to play he's not going to have much trouble winning United fans over as fast, counter attacking football has always been the United way.

Due to his age he's not likely to be around for the long term but he'll lay an excellent foundation for those that follow him, just as he did with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Back to the World Cup, I'm probably not watching any of today's games as there's no teams in action with United players that I actually like involved.

I expect the usual comedy show from England, the media have already laid the foundation for an excuse by constantly going on about the state of the pitch....yet they conveniently forget to mention the pitch is the same for Italy.

What a night of Football that was. :yess:

That result is either going to haunt Spain throughout the remainder of this Tournament or it will be the kick up the backside that they perhaps needed.

RVP and Robben were really a pleasure to watch last night as was Blind for Holland. Vlaar has a good game as well, kept Costa at bay really well.

Anyways today/tonight -

Colombia 2 - Greece 1

Uruguay 4 - Costa Rica 0

and...

Italy 3 - England 0
