with gametoys becoming more and more popular, you would think they would do more runs of the figures they've already done.
Id love to see a reissue of Ichigo as well as other Bleach character. Same with Sephiroth and Cloud.

I saw they have a Tifa head up for preorder, but why not a whole figure? Hard to understand just a head sculpt from a company that normally has larger bodies than typical 1/6 scale companies do.

all of that being said, anyone able to recommend the VTS Cloud or just try to hunt down Gametoys?

tifa head for preorder？gt only sell a whole set of figure.they develop their own body type based on the scale/bodytype of the character. i think you have misunderstood. the official preorder for tifa not open yet.

as for RE cloud，just go for gametoys. it just getting more expensive as time passby.

I really don't understand, a lot of people want these figures, Gametoys would make a lot of money by reissuing but they totally got rid of the molds

Maybe to prevent KOs and clones? That way they minimise the chances of any GT product, secondhand or not, being inauthentic for buyers. From what Walter's said about the dude that runs GT, I'd guess that might be something important to him.

The one thing I keep telling myself is “At least shirtless Sephiroth is still—“ no I’m just kidding xD

It’s actually that, since the coat part itself is fairly simple if you go more og (so without the stitching) getting one redone in a more lasting material, or making it oneself won’t be Too much I think. Unlike my prized HT Harlock, where I’m just having to watch the outfit fall apart slowly due to its age (and being secondhand at that) and knowing it’ll be a LOT of work or money to replace.

Keep it low profile. These kind of updates are not meant for the public consumption as it increases the likelihood of being raided by authorities.

And yes, molds being discarded is one way of getting the authorities off their backs should they get checked on. It shows that the 'company' has no plans on doing re-runs to profit off something they don't have a license on.

In figure space, most manufacturers have a few same molds for casting to increase the production and also to reduce the amount of mold wastage due to wear and tear. Each mold usually consists of a A-B part and eventually it will wear down the details after being repeatedly used. That is why most of the time you would not see the same run of figures for a bit and for some knock offs cases, they may take the expanded mold (which are supposed to be 'destroyed') to do their own run which often leads to bad casting quality such as shrinkage or fudgy details.

Still can't get over that final GT Cloud headsculpt, it's practically 1:1 to the ingame model. Stellar work, even if they did use the actual model as a base (don't know if they did that or not, as disclosure).

The critical point is communication between boss and factory side.
The demands of qualitys.

boss A：send me 5set sample，do it according to this prototype.
factory：done. check it.
boss A：*qc the figure* i think is ok,if can achieve 70% then can start mass produce,as fast as possible,if got any problem,solve it by yourself.

gt：send me 5 set sample，do it according to this prototype.need to achieve 95% or more. cannot less than it.
factory：no problem.done. check it please.
gt：The retina of eye is off, can you redo it？the skintone do not match with the headsculpt.any problem or reason why this problem occur？please send another batch of sample after recorrect the point above.
factory：ok
-one week later-
factory：please check the revised version.
gt：still not satisfy, the hair/nose/eyes need to revise, need to be sharper.can you revise it according to this？（offer opinion and clear demands）

thats why gt figure production period is slow but everthing is perfectly done.

I love the dedication to getting the best quality. If that means waiting longer that’s fine with me. I am curious to know the goings on behind the quality control process though as I got a Sephiroth without a hole in the coat.

I think pretty much all none licensed third party companies are doing it like that. One and done. On to the next project.
There are even examples where they opened / registered a completely new company (name),
just to release one single unlicensed statue and after that the company is gone or working under a new name.
Its the same for all the unlicensed Tifa statue stuff. They are making 200-500 of them and as soon as they are released,
thats it. They are never going to make that exact same statue again, doesnt matter how popular it was.

I talked to some german statue, 1/6 scale collector website support people
and actually a lot of them are too afraid to order / import the GT stuff
because they think theres a high chance that the german customs are going to destroy it
because its pretty much too high quality for a none licensed product which makes it even more suspicious.
All four shops i talked to, refused to order any GT products.

I'm assuming you mean the quality of it, not the actual sculpt since the sculpt was spot on in promos.

Yeah i can see that. For german customs, the only safe way to do it, is by ordering the product yourself from overseas.
Because then only one package for you is going to arrive at the customs and they wont destroy single packages addressed to privat people.

But ordering it through german shops wont work because they are going to order like 20-50 pieces to make some money with it
(single order imports dont make much sense)
which then all arrive at once at the customs and then they cant look away when a delivery of 30 none licensed HQ collector items arrive,
all of them addressed to a official shop.

The only downside is that ordering through a german shop would be 100% safe in terms of money
because the shop is handling everything. So its impossible to lose your money.
I dont how safe this is with shops from overseas.

5-6 process on the eyes. some of the face details，nose shading，lips etc.boss are trying to make sure /achieve the final result from mass production process can match with prototype figure.

I don't know if this forum has that option, but maybe this thread could be made viewable to members only? Perhaps that would help with the leaking images. Although I have certainly seem leaked photos on Twitter that had not been shared here.

NGL after finding how limited these figures really are with no hope of a 2nd run ever, now I kinda wish I had ordered two Clouds. One for the shelf, one to keep new and clean in the box. But then another collector might not have gotten the chance to buy one, so it's all good.

15 years in technology makes a lot of difference in these FF7 characters and mostly are improvements. I would hope that GT a boss, please make your ADVENT CHILDREN character base on REMAKE headsculpt. Use the test and proven headsculpt (at least for Cloud). This is for my opinion. Not sure about the rest of you guys.
