I wonder what’s the logic behind their releases here.

Between Noctis and Lightning, they went for two of the most heavily criticized games in the franchise (but still top sellers). These are not particularly popular protagonists (at least outside of Japan).

Would have been much better to announce Cid, Cait Sith or Clive (justifiable as the most recent game).
i dunno if clive is gonna get anything. 16 itself aside.. the bring arts sold awfully, the bundle w/ torgal that retailed for some 25k jpy was discounted to 6k jpy some places. he does deserve a shin eventually though, if not only to be another step closer to all protags available

Play Arts shin are not 1/6 why are we still calling them that. There's even size specs listed and this new Light is 10 inches. If she was 1/6 that would mean Light is 5 feet tall which is not correct. They are essentially PAK scale, though even that can be all over the place but def not 1/6.
they're the same scale as PAK which would (typically) be somewhere in the 1/7-1/6.5 range.
Hesitant on the Lightning but interested. I'm one of the rare big fans. :D But these action-figure style releases with the ugly joints... I'm just not sure. I didn't do any of the Play Arts Kai releases because there were alternatives (e.g. Static Arts). With Lightning, we have the Good Smile release coming up, albeit a little more "Anime stylized". And I also have the "Swtoys FS060 1/6 Scale Eclaire" Lightning on preorder, though it looks... questionable.

Lightning stuff is rare enough, though, for me to consider jumping in. At $200, though... this one will take some deliberation. :p
if you PO from amiami she is 150 which is somewhat more reasonable. gonna have to account for 15-20 in ship & potential customs/tariffs however

Shipping from amiami for a figure of that size (to the US at least) will be more than 20. Probably 40 at least.

Putting her together was fun, took some time but really enjoyed the process.

Since I'm not using the recommended body a few pieces are pretty much just held on through friction (the hands and head in particular)

Maybe I could use sticky tack or something to keep the hands in...

The belt for the disguise is a nice detail but not something super visable anyway

*Note* I am aware that the hood should be coming out from the inner cloak but I didn't have much time to futz with it.

Also, these wires are 1000x stronger than whatever Hot Toys have been giving us -_-

The figure itself is actually quite nice, better quality that the FF7 stylized line imo.
Can’t find him discounted anywhere, infact I’m seeing inflated aftermarket prices. The 2-pack has a minor discount though. The rest of the XVI line also has minor to decent discounts.

I found the world box body to be more a pain with the hands and head joints than the seamless JIAOU body tbh

I’ve had some success filling gaps in joint connectors with a bit of plastic wrap (just the normal stuff, not sticky). It’s thin enough that you can pretty finely control how much you’re bulking it up, with the bonus of it being completely mess-free and reversable.

I'll give that a shot, thank you for the suggestion!
