No. To remake and modernize FF7 would be to overhaul a lot of its flaws, which would alter a lot of what the original game was and what it means to its fans. It's hasn't held up, and the current SQuenix is in such a bad state, talent-wise that the thought of them attempting an FF7 remake terrifies me.

Gonna have to say this.

Final Fantasy 7 is the most Overrated, over-hyped game of all time.

It deserves praise that it never gets, and gets praise it dosn't

It's not bad. It's actualy VERY good. It's also VERY approachable.

It's By NO means the BEST final fantasy, however.

it is, however possibly the most important FInal fantasy, and RPG of
all time.

Why? It was MASSIVELY hyped and advertised. it was the first big budget RPG released in the states. All this added up to the game introducing a HUGE list of people to a genre they had never heard of, and/or expierenced before, and in so doing helped to bring TONS more JRPG games into the american market.

You're kind of proving everyone's point here. Overrated yes, but its become a cornerstone of the series.

Also, Crisis Core was the only legitimately good thing to come out of the FF7 Compilation. It'd be nice if they could make another game using that engine.

Remake VII, but don't touch the gameplay or the music. Just improve the graphics and maybe add voice acting. Maybe, I'm not sold on that part.

If they did this and threw it on the PS Vita, would you guys be annoyed or welcoming?

Similar to what Nintendo did with Ocarina of Time on the 3DS.

Personally I would be pissed. I want it on the PS3. Their primary system. I would hate for them to remake this, and resignit to their jr system.

Mine too, i played it before FFVII. It was the first one i truly got immersed in

The music when you fight id on the bridge.... so atmospheric!!!
and I actually had a brain fart after playing the scene and thought Fei was in your party when you fight him so I was completely blown away by that one twist!

I'm getting all nostalgic thinking of Xenogears, FFVI, FFVII, and other JRPGs that were loaded with charm that we'll probably never see again on big budget games.

One of the things that I love about comics is how there are never any voice actors or voice overs. Your imagination does the best job of delivering lines and providing tone IMO. This translated perfectly into the RPGs of the 90's. Understandably, the games have taken on more of a film-like appearance as opposed to the comic/manga style inspiration it used to have, and I think quite a bit of charm is lost in that.
