I'm starting to think this game sucks. I'm in Chapter 4, but the battle system and leveling up sucks. And then where's the freedom of an RPG, I go down one path after another. I already started skipping the story cause I had no clue what was going on before. But the graphics are awesome, this game better pick up.

Just beat Odin, but I'm quiting this game. Its so linear, like running from point A to B. I loved FF12 but this is too boring. Time for a different Orgin in Dragon Age.

I felt the same way for the first 8 hours or so, and then I just came to accept it. I really disliked the characters at first. Lightning was kind of a _____, Snow was a douche, Hope was a whiny kid, Vanille...is kinda hot until she opens her mouth. The only cool character was Sazh, and he's pretty much the jive black guy, which is always great in an FF game.

The battle system was so boring, the Crystarium was bare-bones, inventory and customization was also anemic.

The game should open up at around chapter 12 or something, and the linearity should end then. Man, I really hope so.

As much as the game's world is pretty and interesting, it's not enough to keep me engaged.

Yeah the story is confusing as hell.:dunno But Im going to stick with it.

OK - I picked this up (though I wasn't going to) played about 20 minutes and I was bored to death. Now reading these last posts makes me wish I would have waited.
Man I hope this gets better, because aside from the killer graphics...it is major lame-o.

Not sure I want to play this game now...or ever.

I was going to wait...but then I had a little extra change in my pocket and thought what the hell....I enjoyed the last couple FF games....but damn....I don't know if I'll make it through this one.

Well I'm definitely getting God of War III. Got it pre-ordered. :D I'll be dying for something decent to play after a few days of FF. :monkey2 Which bums me out....I wish I liked it. Oh well. Maybe I'll do another round of ME2 instead. :D

Well these posts aren't giving me hope for this game. They love it and go nuts for it in Asia though.

But then again they love some weird ____ and neglect their children playing online games so there you go.

Decided to take a FF break. I know...I've only played it for 20 minutes....but I'm just not into it. Perhaps I'm in a more action oriented mind frame after obsessing over ME2. I miss not aiming and shooting.

Going to play GoW I and II to get myself ready for III. Then I'll pick this up again and see if I like it better.

That's a bit of a generalization. There have been stories of obsessive gamers in China and Korea, but that doesn't really have any bearing on Final Fantasy (a franchise that is most popular in Japan and the U.S.). And is it any worse than reported incidents in the U.S. regarding gaming-related acts of violence?

OK...I decided to give it another shot. Played for a couple hours....it's getting a little bit better. I'm now at some crystal lake place. Anyway....still on the boring side but I'm hoping things pick up. Some of the reviews I read said things don't really kick in until the 20th hour mark...so I've got a ways to go yet.

Welcome Jen....I'm glad you're here.....I can't wait to find you....er...meet you.

I was joking really but now that you mention it I have never seen it proved that games are truly the cause of violent acts in the USA. It's so easy to blame a game when someone goes nuts and here in America we love to pass the buck on some scapegoat. I never believe those "mortal kombat and GTA made me do it" excuses. Not to say they are not a factor in desensitizing but they aren't the cause.

Games in Asia have been proven to have disasterous results though. But that's another discussion for somewhere else.

Speaking of games and having an affect on people - I will admit that after playing GTA4 back in the day...I got in my car and damn did I have a major case of lead foot! :lol :lol I had to really concentrate to drive at the normal speed because I had gotten so used to speeding around on the game. :lol

A video game had never made me feel violent though. Maybe frustrated where I wanted to smash my controller - but never to go out and harm someone.

You're right that it's a discussion for another place, but google "Mortal Kombat murder" and take a look at the results if you'd like. And there have been enough tragedies stemmed from mere arguements over a match in a video game that I don't even think I need to mention.

Sorry to derail this further but I had to respond. I fail to see how it's Mortal Kombat's fault they killed the little girl. Just another case of passing the blame to try and duck responsibility. They knew that kicking and punching her was going to hurt her. They may have been pretending to be a MK character or whatever but so what? They could have been mimicking Bruce Lee instead. Had they said that would we blame him?

If I see my neighbor hit his wife can I hit mine and blame him? I saw him do it and I was only pretending to be him. Honest. Arrest him, not me.
