I like the fact that when Celtic is called out on being a kid, and a newb at life he don't get all pissy like some kiddies do. He takes it in stride and realizes it's true and that to argue against it would be folly.

Man when you're 35 you're gonna be a stand up MAN!

Agreed! :duff

I am wondering if anyone else is as stupid and careless (sorry) with there money as I am? I can't friggin control myself. I have to have everything, no matter what the cost. Credit cards are dangerous. I will add them to Paypal and will send anyone here money to get something I want. I can max out a credit card in 15 minutes. When I got approved for credit cards, before they even got to my house, I knew what I was buying. :cuckoo: Bankruptcy? Been there.

Now I'm unemployed and still buying stuff while not saving money for bills. Yes, I am an "adult" (in years anyway) but my spending habits are childish. I have a mortgage, a daughter, plus a little boy on the way! Yeah. Me. I've had so many opportunities to save money. I make good money when the construction industry is booming, about $1000.00 more than my monthly bills. But I spend it and don't save because I'm stupid and uncontrollable. :gah:

What can I do to be stopped? I've been saying I need to cancel my Paypal account for about 2 months now. I just don't have the will power. Cancel my internet all together? I don't have the will to do that either! I blame no one I bought stuff from. Please if anyone is reading this I ordered from, don't take it wrong.

Is anyone this bad? I'd like everyone to be honest here. Anyone effect there financial safety to collect what they want?

Look, there is no question that collecting is an addictive hobby. However, you've got a wife and kids. Regardless of how you spent money in your past, you need to sit down and prioritize your life. Right now, while you accept the fact that everything is spiraling out of control...you don't want to make the neccessary steps to help yourself. Until you can do that , nobody here on this forum can help you. You refuse to help yourself by cancelling the internet, shutting down your paypal account, and putting away the credit cards (so that they are out of sight/mind from temptation). You & your wife need to seek counseling immediately to help create a budget structure for your household (I'm assuming that you are getting paid for unemployment). There is no question that you have a serious spending problem. You need to get the help now before it's too late.

Im constantly poor because of this hobby, but I live within my means and buy only what I can afford.

I think you should sell off your collection. Buy them back when you are more financially stable but make sure this time, you dont over spend again.

Your family is more important than your collectibles. Money can be earned, collectibles can be bought back again.

Sorry, man ... but you're just going to have to grow up. You might've been looking for a support group here -- but you kinda need a swift kick. You've got a serious discipline and impulse-control problem.

You're not doing any favors for your kids by running their financial future into the ground for a bunch of toys (cool toys, but toys nonetheless). You've declared bankruptcy. Not only have you run up bills ... but you've bailed on the bills (which basically means that someone else paid for your stuff).

My suggestion is this ... rip off the bandaid. Go cold-turkey. Cut up the credit cards, and cancel paypal and ebay TODAY. Cancel all pre-orders immediatey. Don't look at what you're cancelling, don't think about it -- just cancel. You should sell stuff to make amends for the mess you made.

Then, go on a 90-day moratorium. Buy NOTHING for 90-days. You'll be SHOCKED at how much money you have been misplacing or frittering away.

For a farther-in-the-future plan, read Dave Ramsey's "The Total Money Makeover", and follow it to the letter. You need to combine your accounts with your wife (OUR income, OUR expenses), and come up with an agreed written budget at the beginning of every month. Spend ONLY what is on the budget, and unexpected expenditures will require the agreement of both you and your wife. Keep each other honest. You can include your toys in the budget once you have yourself and your finances under control ... but only spend money that is allotted for toys.

You've been through hell with your bankruptcy. Your family's been through hell with your bankruptcy. You need to learn from your mistakes and make sure you're not headed back to hell. Promise yourself, never again.
