Yeah, sorry to hear that. I remember when the aftermarket prices began to climb too. It was around 2012 that they really started to take off. Back in 2011, I picked up a Fierce Deity Link for $400 and Skull Kid for $300. Those are now selling for $1000+ on ebay.
I guess there are just so few companies making high quality video game collectibles compared to the amount of fans that some franchises have. It's not like comic book characters where you have multiple companies releasing iterations of the most popular characters.
