I know I'm truly a happier gamer since I've made the leap from consoles (Xbox 360) to my Gaming PC rig. I say leap because you don't just switch from a console to a $1200 PC. :lol

My specs below:

Case - CoolerMaster Haf 932
PSU - Corsair GS700
Mobo -Rampage III Formula X58
CPU - Intel 1366 i7 930 2.8ghz
Corsair H60 water cooler
Corsair 8gig DDR3 Duo Channel
GPU - EVGA 560 Ti Over-clocked edition
HDD - 2TB HDD
LiteOn DVD
View Sonic 24" 1920x1080P

And yes, I only paid that much fo mine. A lot of people think you have to spend $1500 on a rig, or buy one of those ridiculously over priced Alien ware PC's, sooo not true. :cuckoo: I got my ram and the graphics card (a most awesome graphics card at that) from my bro for only $150, so I was able to save myself a couple of $$ that way.

But let me tell you can save more money. You don't even have to get a rig like mine. They're simpler, less expensive platforms to go with to be able to play any game on the market you throw at it. I went all out on mine with an enthusiast platform, X58. Just because that's what I do when I get into something. :lol

But yeah, I absolutely love the switch and I couldn't be more happier. I don't have to worry about crappy peripherals like - junk controllers and ____ty headsets, or worthless battery packs, god I went through 8 of those before I left Xbox. You would have thought I would have learned my lesson a little earlier? :lol Yeah I'm happy:)

PC gaming is basically all I do sans console exclusives. I think there will always be a place for consoles, however, as many can't afford good PC's.

I'm a casual videogamer, and just don't have the interest in reading all 4 pages of that article (or even the first page really). BUT, that bar chart on the first page has some EXTREME forecasting going on :lol Some big time assumptions that the PC market is gonna keep increasing while the console market will decrease based on 4 years of data where it sure looks to me like the console and PC trends are running parallel to one another. Both had big, incremental bumps in 2010 and 2011. But for some reason the console costs are gonna go down in the future? Well, sucks for them anyways.

I only ever PC game. Course I'm a casual gamer at this point. I suppose i'll have to get an Xbox or PS3 for GTA5.

You can always wait a couple of months for a crappy PC port like most other recent Rockstar games. Except, of course, Red Dead Redemption, which has been given no port for no good reason. Hopefully with a game as high profile as GTAV a PC version is released at launch, and it is a quality port.

I considered getting into PC gaming but decided against it. I have no beef with the medium and I often appreciate some of the set-ups people have, I am just not THAT dedicated where the money would justify my playing habits where I could play for several hours a day for a week straight or go for almost full month without touching my Xbox.

I don't have anything against pc gamers, but my PS3 is enough for me. I go for long periods of time where I don't play any games. It usually takes a new Resident Evil, Uncharted, or Metal Gear to get me playing regularly for awhile.

The Pros of PC gaming aren't worth it to me. Most cheap computers that can run games are more than a 360 and PS3 combined. And then you still miss out on the exclusive games. No thanks. I did my PC gaming rigs back in the day, and I got bored with the constant barrage of upgrades and stuff so I bowed out.

I've actually built a bad ass PC gaming rig, even though I'm a console gamer and rarely, next to never even game on my PC.

While you only paid $1200 for a gaming PC, that price is still way more than double of what it would cost for a new X-Box or PS3. Consoles remain the cheaper alternative, and are operational right out of the box. For PCs, there are just too many things to consider and so, so, so many things that can go wrong at any time. Viruses, blue screen errors, Windows crashes, hardware failures, etc. Personally, I'd just want to play my games, instead of always worrying that something might go wrong :lol.

PCs are good for RPGs like Skyrim and Dragon Age - those games were created for a keyboard in mind. But, for everything else, owning a gaming PC just doesn't seem worth the time, effort, or the money for that matter.

At the end of the day, my gaming pc still serves as a productivity machine for me, so an investment of $1000 (what I spent building my rig last fall) is well worth it. In regards to ease of use, sure, if all you're going to use a pc for is gaming (which is unfathomable to me), you should probably just stick to a consoles

I've recently played The Witcher 2 on pc, and it's practically what I'd call "next-gen" in terms of graphical fidelity.

What you're getting into is an issue of familiarity. I don't want to sound like a snob, but if you know what you're doing, viruses and crashes can be minimalized, and in regards to said crashes and hardware failures, consoles aren't exactly immune to such issues nowadays. And heck, digital distribution systems on consoles (PSN, XBL) make the news for being hacked far more often than their pc counterparts as of late (Steam, GoG, Amazon DD).

Agreed. My 3 PS3's only cost me less than $800. Plus gaming consoles are expanding thier capabilities every generation, getting more and more computer-esque so to speak. I get to do most everything on my PS3 that I do on my PC, mainly watch Blurays, listen to music, browse through all my movies and music videos, surf the web, linux, and stream movies/music. I think thier estimation of console sales is a little far fetched too.

So you are using a article to justify buying a computer?

Consoles will be around for a long time.

All that stuff is good and all but it will be outdated in 2months.

That why i never liked PC gaming. As soon as you got all specked out a new game releases and you have to upgrade to unlock its full potential.
The best games are console exclusive and its alot cheaper.
Also the controls suck unless it a FPS imo

A rig like his will last him a good 2 years until he decides if he needs to upgrade, especially if he just wants to run cross platform games at full 1080p with better textures and better aliasing.

Just built a gaming rig last month. I'm never going to ignore consoles, as there are too many exclusives i like, but it's hard to play games like Skyrim or Battlefield 3 on a console after I've seen what my new computer can do. With outlets like Steam, it's incredibly easy to buy games and play demos. Only thing I don't like is that you can't trade in your games with the PC, so I'll just have to be more selective with what I buy or wait for better deals.

I dont bother with PC gaming. Only thing I play on PC is counter strike.

Otherwise, im happy playing consoles. I love my PS3 as its a blu-ray player also. I like my consoles for gaming, and my PC/Laptop quite simple for web surfing, work and streaming.

Not gonna happen. The stuff that the article says has been around for awhile now.

Could care less about PC gaming.
