I'm mixed on the stands. Although they don't really match with all the other releases, it'll be nice to have stands that the figures' feet don't stick to.

The problem I have with these exclusive stands (other than the fact that I think they're tacky and ugly) is that they don't also include the standard black SW stand. That actually makes the Regular more appealing, imho (which is the version of the Utapau that I ordered).

I like exclusive stands but they need to be more "Diorama" based rather than just these bland museum type pieces.

I really like the sand stands we got for Maul, and the Darth Vader Mustafar stand - bring on more of those.

Would also be nice if they made the Star Wars plain stands available as a separate item.

They're plain jane but they're not horrible either. I got a ton of the regular SS stands laying around if I decide to switch out. You can also just order the regular if you don't like them. So you can't lose.

The stormtrooper design doesn't lend itself well to regimental markings like the clones do. PASS.

I noticed that the accessories list includes both "12-inch Figure Display Base with Star Wars Logo" AND "Sideshow Exclusive: Stormtrooper Commander 12-inch Figure Base" Do you think that is a mistake, or will it actually come with both?

Might be a mistake, as the Utapau clone reportedly only comes with the 1. Unless they changed it and will include both stands with both figures (which would be a good move, imho).

I've often wondered why they haven't. Didn't they once sell separate stands for some of their earlier licenses?

I can recall they did sell stands for Monty Python... but I believe that the very first wave didn't come with stands so that might have been the only reason.

That said - I think there would definitely be a market for Star Wars stands given the huge number of custom figures out there as well as Medicoms. Whilst I quite like the Medicom stands, I think a fair few collectors like to have consistency.

I think Sideshow is going to be drowning in these for quite some time.

At least they can eventually send some back to the factory to be repainted white or to be re-used as Sandtroopers or something people actually want.

I might pick one up at some time. I kind of like it, but I'm really not in to troopers.

I don't think they'd set the run at a ridiculous number. Especially for a TFU test piece. That wouldn't make sense to me.

Additionally, I'm quite surprised nobody has come up with the idea of picking up more of these to strip down to plain white and fill out their army even more. Plenty of freaks were bent that the Storm Troopers sold out as fast as they did and were left wanting more than what was available. This is just the same sculpt with a little extra blue paint, isn't it?!

To me Stormtroopers come in two varieties... regular and sand. No blue, red or whatevers for this guy :lecture
