Re: Freaktacular 2015

will the contests be open only to people that are veterans of Freaktacular? no outsiders allowed?

No-one is an outsider but many of the contests require being actively involved whilst the contest is runnning or putting thought and effort in. People popping in on the off chance don't benefit.

It really depends on the contest. Some are open to pretty much anybody in the thread. Some are open to only active participants. Since each contest is set up and run by a Freak, that Freak sets the ground rules for their contest.

what does being active mean? posting every day? or does it mean something else?
is there a chat? whats is the chat? is that a thing?

I never joined this before because i thought it had to do with sideshow collectibles or pre orders or something ( I never knew there were contests) after finding out a little bit more it sounds like fun. im still confused and dont really understand everything about freaktacular

Like greygoose and mrdbios said, it mainly depends on how the person holding the contest sets it up. Most are completely open to anyone that wants to enter unless specified (like if the contest holder states only people with a Veil avatar can play or only people that haven't won a contest yet). The contests also vary in terms of whether or not you have to be online at the time to participate. For example, some people do trivia contests in which the winner is the first to answer correctly. If it's something like a pumpkin carving contest then there's usually a date set and you just have to enter before the deadline. There are plenty of opportunities to try to win something though since there usually dozens of contests during the month.

Being "active" just means we see you often and you participate in discussions and have fun and don't just show up to get free stuff and then we never see you again.

Re: Freaktacular 2015

I understand why Veil's contest is not for strangers but it just made me wonder about the other contests.

Freaktacular has occurred the past few years as a substitute for some of the activities that Sideshow USED to do during their annual Spooktacular. While SSC still dies a large Spooktactlar event, it is largely on social media now. In the past there was chat, scavenger hunts on their sites, hidden secret codes, and SSC peeps would come to the Freaks board and heavily interect with us all. That hasn't happened in recent years, so I think Freaktacular popped up as a response.

What you have to know is that Freaktacular is run entirely by Freaks here on the board, for the Freaks. Any contests here during Freaktacular are run by Freaks, with prizes generously given by those Freaks out of their own collections. That's why each Freak sets his/her own ground rules.

In my mind, being active means someone who is contributing something to the Freaktacular experience. Maybe they run their own contest, maybe they actively banter with us all in the thread, maybe they contribute content to the discussions. An active Freak is one who does stuff that expands the Freaktacular experience.

I probably missed some stuff, but that's my quick definition of Freaktacular.

I understand. I always assumed this had to do with buying from sideshow or something like that. I always saw the sigs but never knew what was going on

What mrdbios said. Just come in and have fun celebrating Spook with other Freaks.

Re: Freaktacular 2015

I thought thats what it was. hang out talking about new orders

It was but alot of the guys decided to hold competitions between themselves. Some randomers started popping in purely to win prizes put up.

It's up to the person holding a comp to decide their individual rules.

Re: Freaktacular 2015

There are some of us who don't mind shipping overseas... maybe not the big heavy stuff but somethings I will.

Yeah but it's costly, wouldn't expect anyone to do it.

I did a small comp. with a small PayPal prize just to get involved.
Think Zod won... along with everything else :lol

Re: Freaktacular 2015

I think if you are not a fan of pumpkin, said person should be banned from Freaktacular. :lecture

Lol, nah, but it's super fun Crow. We banter about statues here and there, but we talk about a lot of things; favorite movies, scream queen, etc. Contests are fun but just talk with fellow Freaks and join in; it'll all he good! :rock:rock
