Thanks, Reinhardt! The paintwork on the fact and mouth is much better than the first batch, which I thought had a very unnatural pallor. The lips and teeth especially benefit from the new paintwork. On my first bust, I thought the teeth looked like little white chicklets - now they look pretty great.

One correction - I mentioned the concave on the chest in a previous post. I scrutinized the piece a bit more and can confirm it is present on the left pectoral region. You really have to be looking for it, but it's there. I don't know if it's a casting issue or an issue with the original sculpt, but it doesn't bother me in the least.

That sounds great, skull.

About that "issue". It's not and never will be an issue for me.

Bring on the pics without flash. :D TIA.

thanks for posting the pics, skullsoldier.

could you also do some close-up shots, especially of the teeth? since u mentioned the teeth on your new piece are much better.

WOW awesome bust, GREAT pics Skull! My "wait list" converted last night on SSC.. I can't wait to get this piece!

Vic Veins, we're gonna see who has the lower #... :)

My "wait list" converted last night on SSC..

I decided to cancel my order yesterday. I like the bust, but this Fred Barton drama has really turned me off. NRD be damned. There are so many amazing products coming out this year, I had to cut this one loose.

You're welcome ;)

hey man...I hear you, but I try to keep away from drama, if I like a piece, I'll get it... I guess it just wasn't for you...

But Thanks... :yess:

And the beast has landed!

First off, pics of the box, Fedex issues, and how it was safeguarded from potential damage:

The outer box is huge, as seen by the 12" figure on top!

There were 3 areas of damage on the box, this one being the most severe. The Shocker sticker though, did not turn red, so he was handled... decently. Before I signed for the box though, I made sure that I was signing only to ensure I received the package, not that I am approving the condition of the package. The Fedex driver called her supervisor, and assured me this was the case.

Once you open the outer box, there is an inner box as seen here, and it is packed well within the outer box, as seen in the 2nd pic:

The inner box and Robocop sticker:

Once the inner box is opened, you can see the insane amount of bubblewrap that Fred used. There were also a lot of peanuts near the bottom of the bust.

I have to admit, at first, once I opened him up, I noticed a few areas of concern, and then I started looking over the entire bust with a fine tooth comb. I think the bad vibe that has come with this bust, and the delay in receiving him has contributed to me initially not being so excited about it, and me virtually using a magnifying glass to examine him. For a little while (about 10 minutes), I was regreting the purchase.

I then stepped back and looked at him from a distance (about 5-10 feet), and it was right then that I saw the absolute awesomeness of the bust. The paint job on the armor is fantastic. Absolutely mind blowing! Yes there are imperfections, but you are not going to get perfect for $850. And for the most part, they are miniscule. The face could probably look a bit better, especially the teeth, but again, from a small distance, he looks awesome. Remember, he IS a zombie.

The other thing I really noticed is the sheer SIZE of this guy. He is MASSIVE. I don't think I ever really got a sense on how big and intimidating he was in the movie, until he was sitting in my house. WOW!

One note about the weight. Yes, he is lighter than something that is solid filled, but he is not as light as people are making him out to be here. He is heavy enough to not fall over if you touch him.

Overall, I am extremely happy with him. I plan on making a pedestal for him and getting an acrylic display case for him. To own a lifesize bust from one of my favorite movies is a dream come true for me. Don't let the negativity in this thread turn you off.

Really nice pics Reinhardt - it looks straight out of the movie. Thanks for your take on it too, I am looking forward to getting one.

congrats reinhardt, and welcome to the club! glad yours turned out well and that you're able to appreciate the bust with some objectivity. and yes, the lightness of the bust has been severely exaggerated by some folks. i agree, don't let the negativity turn you off. despite its flaws (mentioned in my own review of this piece) it is a tremendous collectible.

another thing i noticed looking at your pics is that the upper section of the breastplate armour is glossy. i guess fred barton redid the lacquer for subsequent batches. he previously claimed that the top of that section is non-glossy as to be screen accurate, but i never bought that. always seemed like a mistake to me. good to see he fixed it...

just stumbled across this thread. Look like an great paint job, especially in the chest area.

Thanks everyone! And yes tyler, good notice. the upper section is glossed up. As per if it supposed to be glossy or not, it's hard to tell, but from the pic below, it DOES look matte...

Recevied mine. First, this piece is heavier than the Wolverine LS (which I consider to be one of SS lightest Life-Size busts) Wolverine feels like a cheap POS next to this guy. My Predator Legendary Scale Bust weighs more than both of these guys combined.

The automotive paintjob is pretty badass, extremely impressed.

The packaging was top-notch for something that didn't come in styrofoam.

Only two things bother me:

Slight mark on his lip, which I could touchup if Fred can give me the colors that were used.

The bust doesn't appear to be properly centered, which I should be able to fix by adjusting the mounting brackets (appears to be an easy fix).

I can see that it's tilted but I actually like that, though it's a bust...but the tilting thing does makes it feel more alive in a way. Hopefully you'll get those issues you mentioned out of the way soon. Congrats!
