Hasbro announced they are doing a new 12" line in 2008 for the 25th Anniversay Line.Do you think they might lend out the license to Sideshow and hasnt been told yet??? While I'd rather see Medicom or Hot Toys do these,I just cant afford the prices to buy them all.At least if Sideshow makes them I could get most of them.

Also,Hasbro is doing 10 Vehicles next year from the Original Series to go with the 25th anniversay line

MY guess is we'll see the same level of cstuff from them in 1/6 has we've seen before. Good for kids, but not high-end.

Even if they're not that great, with the abundance of loose military gear out there, the bash potential is pretty good.

G.I. Joe is one of Hasbro's own licenses...along with Transformers. I really doubt they'll be licensing out 12'' figure rights unless there was a super high demand for them and an international surge in popularity. But with that G.I. Joe movie coming out soon...you may never know!

I've been a G.I. Joe fan since I was a kid, though I was one of the late 80's-early 90's G.I. Joe kids since the line and cartoon were getting popular just as I was born. I got into my adult collecting of G.I. Joe a few years ago with JvC,Spytroops,Valor vs. Venom, etc. when there was a big 80's pop culture resurgence.

That being said, Hasbro brought G.I. Joe and Transformers back in forms similar to the 80's because they said they wanted to focus on some of their "own internal licenses". Hasbro has FINALLY realized after finishing off Valor vs. Venom and Sigma Six that the collectors/fans have been helping fuel G.I. Joe's current popularity right up into the 25th line.

I love Sideshows stuff, but I would like a military strong company like Dragon or Hot Toys making 12" RAH figures. And I would only be interested in them if they looked just like their original 80's designs.

If what IJ is eluding to is that SSC will get the GI Joe license then a couple of questions:

Will these characters not get done because there are is some armor in them:

Lol, yeah a small shot at SSC but just wondering since we haven't even seen minimal armory in the SW license.....

Also will GI Joes receive the SW new license treatment with a lot of releases, fastpaced and a lot of attention paid or the LOTR new license treatment where we have about five figures in the line at this point.....

I'm going to say that the economics, politics, and reality of the situation will mean that Hasbro will be doing the 12" figures. Sideshow would produce very nice figures of the Joes, no doubt, but they would be pretty expensive and fragile for play, which is what these 12" figures would probably be for. And the edition sizes would be pretty small for a mass market toy. That and it would look kinda odd for Hasbro to farm out one of it's signature toy lines to a completely different manufacturer. Although Sideshow has acheived success in the collector's market, they cater primarily to the vocal minority, us, rather than the mass market.

I agree completely. Whereas I think Sideshow could pull it off...I think HT or even DiD has a better track record when it comes to tons of accessories and small detail work that these figures would need.

Although maybe this would be a line that would help push Sideshow further in these areas, especially if collaborating with HT.

Whether its Sideshow,Medicom,or Hot Toys...I'll be buying...though if its Medicom I cant get them all....I'd rather see Sideshow or Hot Toys do it

knowing hasbro and the way they did the marvel legends line. we as collectors will get 12inch versions exactly like the 3 3/4 figures. no clothe clothing just plain hard plastic.

This is good news, but I doubt I can afford another line. I'd prefer Sideshow over any other company. Hot Toys would look amazing but way too expensive. Dragon and DID would make great accessories and costumes but the head sculpts would suffer greatly and DID is just a little too expensive. Sideshow should ace the head sculpts since they don't have to look like any living actor, the costumes would look better then anything from Hasbro, and if the weapons aren't up to my satisfaction, I and I know many other 1:6 collectors, have a S#*tload of left over weapons from Dragon, BBI, Ultimate Soldier, ACE, Toy Soldier, DID, and Hot Toys to replace anything not up to standard.

And hopefully Sideshow would be more affordable then the others (under $50) so I hope that's the announcement this christmas. If it's Hasbro, then I hope they step up their A game because the usual quality won't suffice for the 25th Anniversary.

Yup. Couldn't have said it better myself. Let's bury this thread right next to all the other "WHO WOULD BE DOWN FOR 1/6 80's JOES?" threads.

And I'll eat my Shipwreck filecard if any of these "1/6" scale Joes have WEAPONS that A) Actually look decent AND realistic B) Are more than one, single molded piece of plastic C) Are more than one color other than black.

I agree Slade, if its mass-production it will be more of the same toyish stuff. Which is fine for the kiddies, but not something I'd be interested in.
