My S4 arrives tomorrow. Already got the case and the SD card in the mail. I'm pumped.

****! I took it in yesterday and they ran a diagnostic. some vibration function didn't pass, so they offered to order me a phone with my insurance. Of course they always neglect to say it's a refurb. I am not dealing with that again.

So why pay for the insurance?

Well if this happened six or seven months after getting it, or it gets lost or stolen or the screen gets cracked, then i wouldn't feel bad about getting a refurb. that's why I pay for insurance. not when I've had a phone for less than 2 months. I had a not so great issue when I purchased my S2, the microphone on the mouthpiece was defective. They gave me a refurb, less than a month after i purchased, and I had insurance. Also it's not something they tell you when you are purchasing the phone and they are selling you the insurance package. Mind you I've been with t-mobile over 13 yrs. I was just wondering if anybody had this issue, seems not. It's fine I'll deal with it.

Even apple gives refurbs. I could argue that refurbs are better quality than new ones.

thank you badmoon, that's helpful. that was the argument given since they said at least you know the issue would have been addressed.

I think that you even get a new shell and screen. Basically the internal parts are the refurb. At least with apple.

yeah they said it'd be a new board. I actually just posted a link to a forum that shows I'm not the only one that was having this issue, flip back a page

Thinking about getting this or the iPhone 5s

With this i like the bigger screen the ability to customize the layout, colours, icons clock and so on and the camera options but don't like the app interfaces and keyboard ect.

With the iPhone i prefer the icons, don't like the boxy grid interface but love the clean white keyboard and app interfaces.

You can dowload an app that makes the keyboard very similar to the iphones. It's called AI keyboard. It changed my whole opinion on the phone. :lol

So I've had my S4 reset to factory setting and got a new SIM card and now I'm not having issues. I think the transfer of the old SIM card created a bit of incompatibility.

Also consider the Nexus 5--it doesn't have all the crap that Samsung installs.
And if you want a better keyboard, the one on the Galaxy Note 3 is pretty fantastic--enough room between buttons, plus all the numbers are there so you don't have to switch between screens, and it has Swype.

Had to get rid of that POS S4. it literally just died on me over the weekend after a system upgrade, second time in two months. Would not even boot up. No more samsungs.
