emailed GH for a tracking# and the doorbell rings- FEDEX :yess:

Initial impressions- she's kind of awesome! You can make out more of the dirt detail in her face and skin so the dirt and blood markings don't really stand out in an un-natural way, to me at least. Yeah her eyes are pretty bloodshot, but it works... I think she looks great! No paint defects on mine.

A couple of issues- the seam is slightly more noticeable than I'd like on her wrist. The shotgun hand was a super tight fit and I pushed so hard I was afraid of breaking something. Also her right foot slightly hovers- not noticeable at all except for when I move her she wobbles (the rocks on the base hide it). For that I'll probably just slide something under her foot.

Time to start finding materials to duplicate bow #1 to throw over her shoulder- don't know if I'll finish it (probably wont) before I leave town for a month or two.

Hey Sideshow-Forum,

I've just registered to post my opinion on this Statue. It came yesterday, so I took the opportunity to make some pictures for you. I am not a good photographer, but maybe you can take on a glimpse of what you would get. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this Gaming Heads statue, although it has its little fair share of critique. If that is a deal breaker for you, is up to you, since its more related to art and style rather than quality issues.

Lets start with a neutral photo, I just shot coulple of minutes ago. So there is no bright sunlight on it, just regular late afternoon light conditions. I am from europe, if anyone wondered (and my english is like...well...)

I took it, just because I wanted to show something about the face. In my opinion the eyes are a little bit too red. Thats the only negative aspect I could figure out. On the other hand, I really liked how it is painted. The mud, dirt, dust. And for what I can see, it is not to yellow-ish.

Here is a shot of the front under brighter light. Also, imo, good quality of the point of skin and clothes.

And the last one in total. The satue has some great size and weight, feels heavy and the diorama is also of good overall quality. In general I think that is the kind of value you get for your, in my case, 250€ and if you are a Tomb Raider Fan, it could be worth it.

Regards,
DJ

How would you compare it to your Sideshow Lara? I own the Sideshow Lara, too, and Im afraid that i am going to be dissappointed when comparing these two ladies quality-wise.

Well, what I liked about the Sideshow-Lars is her clothing, and her absolut superb face. However when it comes to her skin tone it looks a little bit pale. Thats where GH Lara has a lot more detail, which I like a lot. Except for the red airbrush over the GH Laras Face (which is more intense on photos than in real life), I think there are very similar quality-wise. The rest is up to your personal taste regarding the pose, dynamic or style. There is no major difference. But I do not own many figurines or statues, so I am not an expert in this field.

If I could, I would combine the quality of the face of sideshow-Lara, with the level of detail of GH Lara, with the size of my life-size Lara.

Thanks for your reply.

I love mixed media statues so this is something im pretty sure i am going to miss. Eventually I need both of them in my collection. :)

Where did you get the life sie Lara? How much did you pay? She is awesome! Only the face looks weird.

Hey DowJones, nice statue! I think I remember the guys from Oxmox saying that the hair was intentionally dirty and messed up to achieve the in-game look, how come you decided to go for the clean look?

Another newbie here. :) Although I have been viewing these forums for a while now.

I did a video review of this statue.

Just got mine in and took some quick photos. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Ill have to see if I warm up to it in the next couple days.

Did anyone get coupon codes from signing up for the newsletter? Can they be retroactively applied to a pre-order if I place an order and get a coupon later? What kind of promos can I expect? These statues are so much, I want to get the best deal.

Well, I stumbled across an auction of a local dealer. And to my luck they didn't know what type of gold there were selling. So I got it relatively cheap. If I wanted to, I could sell it for 2 or 3 times the prize I paid. But I decided to take this statue to my grave :D
The face is a matter of perspective, there are angels, where is does not exactly look like Lara in the game. In others it matches very well. I think they designed the statue upon early concepts, not on the final version of the game. Still pretty cool. Glad that my wife liked it, too.

Life-size Lara FTW! very nice dude, and welcome to the forum :clap

Thanks!

Well, for me it was difficult to style it in the way the game looks. And since my wife and I are both cosplayers we have different types of wig brushes, so we have gone for the clean look. Actually we re-styled her a bit. So now she has a different hair style, altough its also a clean one. The hair was definitely mess up, when I got it, but it was never dirty.

best regards,
DJ

Oi, thanks for the Vid.

Maybe I missed it, but can you give me a short comment on the airbrush on the eyes? Do you liked it, is it -in your opinion- intense?
